Christie is more of a hitman for the party than a serious contender, even if the field is blown wide open with a Trump conviction. Something tells me Chris is doing the bidding and being financed by Trump's many enemies inside the GOP, Mitch and Rove come to mind, he is their attack dog while they wait for the courts to deal with Donald. Not like debating a MAGA Republican, might even say something bad about Donald.
i sort of see it the same way, he has to know he will never be a serious contender, but he can sure have a lot of fun fucking with trump, and on someone else's buck.Christie is more of a hitman for the party than a serious contender, even if the field is blown wide open with a Trump conviction. There is no doubt in my mind that what happened was wrong and completely unfair. The courts have agreed it was wrong and set aside money as compensation. I believe the bold becomes a contentious point as it comes across as disingenuous. Now, I also believe there is a very valid argument that there should be compensation for the value extracted from the land beyond just returning it to their custody. My point being that by attempting to 'sell' the argument that payment has no direct bearing on the land being returned simply causes more friction and prevents reasonable discourse from occurring. The land should be returned, how to determine the value of compensation is the difficult part. Hopefully it's not a discussion that has to wait another decade. He's not wrong. Those carvings on the face of Mt Rushmore is part of an American holocaust. That's a story that deserves to be told and remembered. But you aren't wrong either. The tribes who own that land want it returned. Not a payment but to have the land returned to them.
Money is a golden egg. Land is the goose that lays’m. The land is the thing of real value here. There is no doubt in my mind that what happened was wrong and completely unfair. “It really saddens me that we’ve got some tribal members that want to accept the money and they don’t realize the harm they’re going to do; they don’t really understand why we say the Black Hills are sacred,” said former Oglala Sioux Tribe President Theresa Two Bulls.
"Edward Charging Elk, a member of the Rosebud Tribe, has put together one such proposal for a bill that he says is “realistic and doable” that focuses on three elements: the return of 1.3 million acres of the Black Hills, relabeling the trust money as back rent and then agreeing on the terms of future rent for the resources from the land to the tune of roughly $7 million a year."
Why the Sioux Are Refusing $1.3 Billion
Members of the Great Sioux Nation could pocket a large sum set aside by the government for taking the resource-rich Black Hills away from the tribes in 1877. But leaders say the sacred land was never, and still isn't, for sale.www.pbs.org
EDIT*** I'm not only thinking of this case of First Nation land issues, many treaties have been broken and my thought process is with them in mind as well.
