Filled a small ziplock with moldy flower--even the plants I put in the shed to escape the rain and fog have botrytis popping up. Air has been so damn humid for over a week here. Sun is coming out now and drier air is supposedly on the way this afternoon which should help.

But then all hell is going to break loose on Friday night and Saturday when Lee comes barreling ashore. Talking about 70 knot (80 mph!) gusts on Penobscot Bay Saturday afternoon--I'm 4 miles inland and fairly sheltered from wind but it's going to be total mayhem. I can try to shelter the fabric pots but all the hemp in the ground is going to get hammered badly.

Time to practice some Zen breathing and detachment...all you can do is prepare as best you can and then it's out of our hands.
Good luck to you, im on mid atlantic coast and its been a rough summer!

Yep, shit year in the northeast. I salvaged a few zips of immature, shitty bud off one plant but the rest of it is screwed. Another whole plant is a write-off. Hopefully the other two can make it through the next 3 days. Weather looks good after that but it might be too late.

I don’t know how to describe the emotions of watching 6 months worth of work and dedication go completely sideways in two days…absolutely gagged.

F_ck man. Sorry to hear that. I clipped another small ziplock's worth of rot today but nothing like what you're dealing with. It's a terrible feeling like you say to put all that work and love into raising a plant and then when the fruits of your labor are almost within reach the rug gets pulled from under you.

Dry, breezy, and partly sunny here today but by late tonight that's all going to change. They downgraded Penobscot Bay from a hurricane watch to a tropical storm watch, apparently Lee is moving further east than originally projected, but still expecting rain and very gusty north winds. We're somewhat protected from the north here but could still get wild.

Need to run down to the harbor and double check my little sailboat--she's all the way up in the head of the inner harbor which is quite sheltered but likely to be mayhem down there tonight/tomorrow.

Stay safe everyone.

Last night was a picture perfect fall evening--cool, crisp, that warm autumn sunlight. Maybe if we make it through this storm we'll get a couple weeks of that:

I've had problems drying my indoor in this weather it's been so wet and humid.
I haven't even looked at my outdoor in a week and am already planning for plan b. This is why I dont put plants out until July. Too much heartbreak starting early for me and watching it rot.

I had sunflowers hanging last week to harvest the seed they rotted on the line nothing dries out with 70% dew point.

Looks like Iam lucking out on Lee just 30-40 winds very little rain. Next week looks to get more normal dry an cooler. Iam not over taken with rot yet straight 3% peroxide kills it on contact so I spray in the morning an cut out the dry crispy mold in the evening just gotta stay on top of it.

I guess the solution to climate change and bot rot is going indoors. Personally, I Love the outdoor gardening and the giant plants (and yields). The real kick in the balls about going indoors is the cost and the space required to produce a 1lbs of weed.

I just did the shopping list  4x8 tent, 2 600 LED lights, adjustible hangers, in-line fan, forced air fan, charcoal filter, environmental measurement electronics, dehumidifier or A/C, humidifier, pots, trellis netting, and oscillating fans. ...$3,000! My backyard if free.

I think next year I'll just spray the S#!T out of them with ZeroTol from early flower weekly until I harvest. Oh, and spread them out further.

Northeast of Maine. I’m in Southeastern NB. It’s abnormal to get humidity here in September like we’ve had the past week or so. Completely fucked a couple of my plants. Amazing how things can go south so fast. I put the two good plants in my shed with a couple fans and a dehumidifier…winds peaking 60+ MPH tomorrow and a pile of rain. Pretty much right in line with the hurricane track.

2"-4" rain with a constant 30-40 mph winds gusting 50-60 headed my way. Nothing we can do but keep things in the dooryard from blowing around.

Funny…I just went through the same exercise looking at an indoor setup. I just can’t justify it right now. I’m going to do the same next year with Zerotol. Be nice if there was a systemic fungicide for Botrytis. If someone could invent a product like that they’d become very wealthy.

I know, right? I can't justify it either.

I have orange, lemon, and avocado trees. There are systemic products for everything. Just water it in and all is good. There's gotta be a way to stop the botrytis through some systemic process.

There are systemic fungicides for botrytis just none safe enough to combust an inhale. grape growers use all kinds of nasty stuff to fight Botrytis.
