Choosing a rosin press


57rh weed that was like 1.5 years old. Probably half a gram from a eighth. I thin because it was nitro sealed it was able to be pressable. Very frosty stuff.

180 top platen and 175F bottom. Just wanted to see that ooze again haha. Made a YT account so here is video. It is old weed that is considered free at this point so just a nice couple large dabs that did not cost anything.

Have you ever used a vape pen with 90%+ thc? Those are most likely made with thc distillate. I’ve noticed I’ll develop a tolerance incredibly fast using them.

Maybe here is a better place to ask. So I have about an oz a plant that I hung dried 6 days ago. I just read the how to dry/cure that is pinned to top of harvest section. I get it but how about with rosin? What if you smell grass smell still at below 65rh? Will rosin be effected? Would you cure until it is gone?

I am about to trim and do a rh test and see where I am at. If I am at 55-60rh, would you press or cure for better flavors and minimal hay smell/taste?

One plant still has a little bit of that smell. Hard to the touch, stems are folding and crunching, a mixture of that.

Ever since i started using UVB/UVA for better terpene profiles and more potent thc I have never had a problem with my weed smelling like grass I don't have too cure it at all it just smells like str8 fire gas the minute it's put into jars. Grow better quality flower you won't have this problem. Also I never understood how "curing" for better smell? Isn't curing breaking down chlorophyll? How does breaking down chlorophyll make your weed smell better? I just don't get it.

All I did was lower temp to 180 top 175 lower plate and squish all in 2.5 mins and up to 2.5 tons then release and recieve the best quality yield to date. The consistency is like 2 different kinds, oily and sugar like, oh my gosh this is good tier. I want as much as this as possible!

Thanks to who said to experiment with temps and etc! Collecting is was harder but worth it. First time I had it come out like sugar, that is crazy. Yum! Medium temp vaping this will be other worldly. But I am a fan of low thc waxes.

to answer medidedicated's question when you cure cannabis you break down chlorophyll and when chlorophyll is being broken down it smells like "grass" or "hay". so medidedicated should continue curing his cannabis until all chlorophyll is broken down thus the grass smell is gone.
 
Two plants freshly trimmed and the grass smell was just me smelling it as it sat there but when putting into a bag and opening it later to smell it hits hard without grass smell, I guess it was just me. It tests 54rh in bag so it dried too fast or I was too slow to jar it to sweat it some and also break down that smell further.

I just followed the pinned how to cure method on top of harvest section. 34 gs and 32gs.

Heres one tester that yielded well but then I have another strain I grew that I just pressed and got like nothing. What yall think the issue is? What should I try doing? The super shark is a bit dry and leafy, both bags weed test at 54 rh which I pressed before and just now with my other home grown.

Just smoked it in a bowl, its nice I like it a lot but damn, why wont it yield rosin?

It is not a super frosty strain at that, super shark from 710 genetics. Havent smoked weed in months but I can smoke this if it comes down to that, I am smoking it now and liking it. The other weed yields optimal but tastes like dryer sheets and dust. Possible contamination.
 
Trying to just up temps to 200f top and 195 bottom platen. I do not have much, just an oz so I only have 7 more tries but if it dont yield in the next 2 or 3 I am giving up. At least for this bag of weed.

I havent gotten to yield very much so kind of historical and should just smoke it. I was supposed to be here before with a big bag of weed but lost it to mold so I got set back.

I guess to look for strains that yield good rosin or junk it but could be dried out too fast and too leafy.

I always wanted to grow hash plant just the name would think rosin just a sparkling plant
 
Does this count as blow out if its on the very top of bag? Super shark yielded something this time with 200f, should I up temps more? It is very badder like, I have to freeze it to collect it, wish me luck not shattering and losing a chunk.

Think I am going to press all the gg4 auto right now at 200f, I sampled it and it is either better or I am adjusting to a very different exiperience of consumption as some strains will have things about them your dealer wouldnt carry because it may not taste the best or look the best after dry and cure etc.

I smoked the flower and see it is smelling and tasting a certain way which the rosin is just a consentrated version of that. It is a little nauseating in flower form and a little more in dab form. Again, maybe it has some dust in it. It doesnt smell much different than in living form, a little musky maybe from drying too fast.

The super shark I have still freezing but it is still a badder molasses consistancy sticking to paper too much. Just gonna get the gg4 out the way with pleasure I just dont want 5 different balls of rosin of same strain. The super shark I guess I can try rehydration. If that dont work I give up, hard to see weed go to waste.

I dont want to blow out a bag trying to yield more with the super shark, its just not a yielder or at least this batch. It is too dry and crumbly. Lesson learned, should of read the how to cure pinned in harvest section. I thought I memorized it but I clearly didnt. I know exactly what to do next time now though.

Threw me off that many sources say to hang for 7 days but that how to basically implies this should of hung for like 3-4 days instead of 6-7. Perhaps the small yield has something to do with drying faster.
 
4 eighth pucks to make about 2gs or little more of rosin at a time. I think I got 10 more gs idk, taking a smoke break. Going to do the rest of it in a minute and ball it all up into one. 200F top platen and 195F bottom. Made it taste better but usually prefer cold press and nucleation.

4g pucks to get rid of last of that weed. About to gather it all and weigh it but I think it is easily the same yield as a good run, .5 an eighth or little more.

About yo see if hydrating the super shark did anything and see if I need to let it sit longer but not too long as it can mold.

Shoot, it did not really help much. I wonder if it is strain related or grower related. I wonder if dryer, fluffier weed makes the bag blow out in an unusual spot, the top and bottom. Or at least its a first for me. Just gonna keep the weed to smoke and get rid of it, I have two clones. Maybe give it one more chance to see if it isnt grower dry related.

I think thats three eighths or two of them, not going to waste more.

Correction the super shark did test 54 but a day later when I went to press it, it dropped to 51% which is below optimal.

54% was the lowest I pressed and though I did not check the gg4 auto again, it was notably stickier and plyable so I am sure it was still around 54%. That and/or the bud itself was just a better candidate for pressing.

So the gg4 auto was about 4.7gs rosin out of 34 gs flower. Heck I hope this doesnt happen with the space cab at some point because the only down side is its a decent job for 3-4.5 months waiting. The costs and labor aint bad.

I guess when I read to look for certain traits in strains it is true, to start looking for sticky resinous strains. My remaining auto beans should be similar though, if you know g13 genetics and fast buds.

Edit the SS was 10-15% and the gg4 was 23% thc likely the SS being 10% as it wasnt a happy plant.
