It’s modeled after a 1911ish Indian board track racer. It has been driven on back roads. I got scared about 25–30 mphI believe it is an antique board track racer, unlikely it is ridden on the street.

I still remember the Christmas morning I got my Huffy Pro Thunder! Still can picture the yellow plastic mag wheels with matching top, stem and handlebar pads! That bike kicked so much ass!I had one

That's my holy grail. Doesn't mattter what color but probably the pPink color scheme would be my preference. Imo, the gt performers were the beginning of the commercialized bmx bikes that kicjed off the bmx craze. Hutch bikes were really nice but that's a bike we could never get in my State.
The History of the Specialized Stumpjumper - Mountain Bike Action Magazine
Mountain biking was still in its infancy in 1981 when Mike Sinyard, the founder of Specialized Bicycle Components, began to produce and market thembaction.com
We used to take our freestyle and bmx bikes put flat mtb bars and gnarly tires on and mtb on the single speeds all the time. I should have kept the one frame not my picture but original baby blue gt performer

It looks similar to the last picture in the three matching places in the spoke pattern on both sides of the wheel. The wheel feels solid. The front brake pulls stiff so it could use new cables.www.ebay.com
My first "real" bmx was in 1985. It was a white/lavender Skyway Street Styler. White frame purple mags/accessories. Bought it from my LBS. Wish I still had it.Had this one too

I painted it a candy apple red so if you could imagine a chrome deep red. It was absolutely beautiful.
I'm pretty sure production didn't move overseas till late '90's early '00'sMy first "real" bmx was in 1985. It was a white/lavender Skyway Street Styler. White frame purple mags/accessories. Bought it from my LBS. Wish I still had it.
I've got a '84 bologna cut gt performer( dirt frame) that's the last year they were made in Santa Ana before being built in Taiwan. I've got some sweet 80's Oakley grips that will go on it with of course the Van's shoes brakepads
Good catch. I'm actually reading up on it now. Bmxmuseum has a ton of info. I actually have a pro series not a performer. They were built overseas, Taiwan and Japan starting around end of 84 to 86( the exact date is a little hazy) Japan using full chromoly like the US, high ten steel in Taiwan. I dont think full production overseas started until the 90s. But they were being built. Japan put out a bunch of really nice bmx bike parts in the 80's.I'm pretty sure production didn't move overseas till late '90's early '00's

It's not a bad thing to have a Japanese/Taiwan built 80s gt.
Same, Dude. Kids got me back into them 5+ years back or so. So much nostalgia for me with bmx. We weren't any good lol but as kids of the 80's, we definitely latched onto that scene. Same with skateboarding. I have an old Mark Gonzalez board hanging on a wall in memory of a friend.I was a bike nerd lol
The kids are getting me back into it. My one flat black Versus is up and riding. Still fine tuning for a few more pounds on the shocks lol but we've been riding a little. More than we where for a while so that's good. We just got our daughter a mtn bike (24") for her birthday. First with gears and hand brakes for her. The little dude is next for a real bike.
