Stoned Gardener here, obviously. I have something to say about the afore mentioned nouns in the thread title. I've always been a stickler, when it comes to the Englush language, especially with my kids.
However, as the old saying goes, " There are exceptions to every rule " . Most of the time I'm pretty high, and or shellaced . I'm simply in a flow of consciousness. This is when I'm oblivious to the rules of writing. I cannot focus on that, it's not crucial to what I'm trying to express. I just try getting all my bullshit thoughts " down on paper " before I lose them ( I can lose a thought in a second ). However, I do review my entries sometimes and cringe at the misspelled words , punctuation etc. It is embarrassing. In those states of mind, proof reading never enters my mind.

While working, due to OCD, I too strived for perfection. These days I realize that perfection is overrated and unattainable, so my efforts reflect that.

Hey dude, I know you're a Burroughs fan, same here. I enjoy your stream of conscious posts. So wouldn't Burroughs. After all, he liked to improvise his writing and try new things. His "Cut up Method" was interesting :joint:
As far as grammar/punctuation, I look for the meaning or importance of the message over something being spelled correct or in the right place. Besides, I always makes errors lol.
Hope this makes sense. Edibles kicking in hard:eyesmoke:

Oh yes. I stumbled across Junky my senior year and was hooked with Burroughs, later Kerouac, Thompson and Wolfe.
In Junky, I love Burroughs description of NYC in the 40's. The addicts hunched over in trenchcoats looking like vultures waiting to score. The doped up nights eating pound cake and coffee at the local diner. The petty subway thefts and of course the rehabs at Lexington. Damn that sounded horrible. I've read a few Burroughs. I recently picked up a 1st edition( paperback) of naked lunch for free! In search of yage was also a good book, but i read it a long time ago.
Have you ever read any of Burrough's son, Billy? Kentucky Ham and Speed are actually really fun, quick reads that I really enjoyed. It was a shame he died so young. He had a liver transplant due to cirrhosis. He never mentally adjusted to someone elses organ in him and I think he started drinking again and died.

I got turned on to Burroughs by reading Kerouac ( read every book, more than once ). I also got hooked on Thomas Wolfe ( in my opinion a manic writer....obsessed) from Kerouac references. I've never checked out Billy Burroughs, I'll definitely check him out . I love you're description of " Junky " , " right on the money , well said ! I also 1st edition of " Naked Lunch " , paperback . One of my favorites, that I've read multiple times , was Kerouac's " Desolation Angels " . Hunter Thompson fit right the f in with those Beat Generation writers.

I like the breadth of the English language, and I am of the philosophy that the words we speak (or write with) are the words we think with, so having a better lexicon and understanding of how to use the words in it is a path to better understanding literally everything.

I also understand the casual nature of forums, especially while high lol

That being said, it pisses me off when someone wants help and they can't bother to use punctuation or they speak in a loose stream of conciousness.

I have different standards for folk who came to typing late in life, or have a background that precludes them from either grammar or typing, but sometimes people are dumb and it has taken me a couple years and a few mod warnings to get me to chill out.

I really admire people who can put together a concise, enlightening, thesis.

I kinda like the fact that different languages of different groups often share same words or words alike, like Rose or somethig
