I've always wondered about this since recommended setup of exhaust and carbon filter is inside the Grow Tent at the top where the heat and humidity is.
The recommended setup says to place in the tent at the top and in all the pics I have ever seen and including my own setup its placed at the top rear of the grow tent.
They also say to keep everything straight for maximum CFM airflow. So if you put it in the top rear your exhaust vent is either curved 90 deg to the big hole at the top rear of the tent or curved 45 deg to the vent in the center top which is how I have mine.
If you put your exhaust and carbon filter in the top center then youre losing height that you can grow your plant because you wouldnt be able to raise your light as far. Now if you used to LEDs for 2X4 coverage maybe you can put one on each side of the exhaust setup. But I have a 4X4 LED light in my 4X4 and theres no way I could put my exhaust setup in the center without losing like 12-16 inches of height.
So why are the holes for the exhaust in the center and not in the top rear of the grow tent?
This is a Zazzy 4X4 Grow Tent which I just recently purchased because my other grow tent the mylar inside started to peel off in one spot and the zipper has light leaks. The Zazzy tent has way better diamond mylar, no light leaks especially the zipper and the zippers are way better quality. Also the exhaust holes are towards the top rear of the grow tent where I put my exhaust.
This one is the Zazzy 4X4. Exhaust port at top is more rearward.
Heres an example they show where to put your setup but man youd need 2 smaller lights instead of one big one.
