Gnats

You might think about transplanting it into a solo cups worth of clean soil or some pro-mix.
Defiantly a solid idea, all I have is the same soil and it could also just have gnats.... Might as well treat it all at once I would think ? As long as it wont hurt my seed/seedlings... I don't think its a worry !

This sort of thing. I only have one, lol.
Perfect, I have a couple myself , I never thought of this, idk why !

At this point I'm only worried about drowning the seed, so if I go heavy around it and use the pipett should be all good !

Pretty warm in my grow room and light is like 16 hours or something, water should evaporate off the top couple inches in no time.

Warm is good. I run my lights 24 hours during veg (and sometimes during flower with autos). Just don’t blast them when they pop up. They don’t need much intensity at first.

Light is like 150 watts or so running at level 6 which maybe puts it at 80 wats for 16/8 hours and its at the top of the tent so should be all good, not super bright for them ! Should be enough to get the water off the top but not sure about the entire 5 gallon pot...

Just watered in about a half gallon/ 3/4 of the mosq bits definitley soaked all the way through, excess is dripping out the bottom !

Light 24/7 to get them to sprout up out of the soil?

Question about DE !

After I sprinkle some on the top, when I need to water can I just water it in and place more on after ?

Is it bad to have a bunch in your soil ?

Fox farms soil is dense with organics - thus the bugs.
Gnats are attracted to moisture and decaying matter , they hitch rides on the medium from a host of sources - ( factory / transportation/ palletized storage / warehouses/ etc. )

Another method ( without the mess of DE ) is Neem Meal - stupid simple. You can take a cup and top dress your soil - mix it into a soil drench ( some mix kelp in too ) or neem meal spray to mist the top soil of your containers….. this product is also a soil conditioner so you are not upsetting the soil’s makeup . Adult flyers are handled with stickys. Larvae in soil ( drenching and top dressing. )

TIP : Target the soil not the plant.

DE is meant to be bone dry since it is a desiccant plus it cuts them up on contact. But becomes a soggy mess when wet or moist.
Mosquito bits / BMC are fine to use to.

Fungus gnats are not exclusive to fox farm many “ bagged “ medium “ have the potential for pests.

I still think bmc is the way to go.

Absolutely, but i thought i would share an alternative.

This works brilliantly for those that dump bags in large storage totes ( for mixing in perlite and other amendments ) - i would throw in a few cups of neem into tote with my perlite bump - mix thoroughly and close lid. I knew i would get bug bags but handled them this way.

Soil is in tote ready to use when needed.
