Had to wrap a towel around my head last night, it kept the sound from howling wind and frozen rain at bay.
Looks like a fun day ahead. 8-)
I swear I can feel the slush between my toes already, but that's just PTSD from 2 yrs ago.
Well, didn't see the tree down this morning, it was pitch black.
75ft+ Norway spruce went down hard, it would have crushed the barn, maybe part of the house if it went the other way.
Split the trunk 20ft up from wind shear.

I had to pick up a tree out of the street this morning. Judging by the plastic in the street, I imagine someone found part of it in the dark as well. 20240110_081109.jpg

Had same happened here last Christmas if went other way would of crushed the house took power lines out instead took 4 days get power back on with 5 below at nights. Had cups of water on counter frozen. I was like you trying to drown out the winds banging windows.

This is the other tree right next to the one that fell on lines. Every time we get winds I look at. Told neighbor got to chop before to late.View attachment 5359939
Thats a big white pine with a bad lean.

I told my daughter the tree took out her car, she got whiplash and eyeball bulge.
Then I laughed but she didn't think it was funny, couldn't figure out if I was kidding or not.
