Choosing a rosin press

As far as letting it cure I thought the best flower rosin was pressed just at the time you put in jars. I was trying to aim for that but just right so it dont hiss when it cold starts in banger. At all.

I did try asking if the cure applies to the resin because I smoked kief from uncured weed and it has a harshness to it but it was attempted press of kief that I just chipped up and smoked, it was gently dealt with so thought still good.

I am learning how to cure I am almost there and accidently cured a batch by not caring too much like that can throw us off as newbies. Inadvertantly cured some bud and wondered about how that effects resin exctract flavor and harshness.

I know it will be dark from oxidation. But the fear of being too dry to yield rosin is there. Not sure if thats why my super shark 13% not so frosty bud yielded zero rosin but worry, it says 64rh is best to press but not skilled enough to do it.

I heard calibers are misleading and tend to press or jar too early but I did get rosin from brittle weed few times now. I keep saying flavor but also mean harshness in kief/weed form but how it effects overall rosin.

I got an oz watermelon ultra reading 52rh but salt tested hygrometer at 70-71rh so even then thats 57rh.. Its just teedering between 51-52rh.

What would you look for that its ready to press? Preferably without a cure just no hissing in banger.

I can try it with a cure its just I dont look to much into that because even with delicious rosin from store bought weed it just cold starts smelling gross and have to dispose of it quicker or itl taste like old eggs.

Also hard to cure this strain, it seems to have a narrower window to cure and press. I havent pressed a same batch of weed thst was allowed to dry out to see it wont yield but I worry about waiting too long.

I keep temps 63-70f and 60rh the temps I cannot control. Just making use of a small bathroom no vent in basement so it stays cool but can warm up.

I seem to see everywhere to dry buds for 7-14 days but I just get dry enough buds by day 4-5. Its either ready or needs to slowly be brought there.

Any comments on that? Can fan with carbon filter on lowest setting dry herb shelf in tent, thats it. Huey.

Hey bud check out build a soil on YouTube for rosin making freaking amazing. Guy who showing won second in rosin competition for best connoisseur. He has a freeze dryer so that's one thing that's expensive but can do with out. Starts out making bubble hash then pressing that in rosin. His process supper easy and best part you dry harvest half way then throw it in freezer for a day then make bubble. Just water ice and some bags worth watching.

5 - 7 days works for me. I don't snap any stems or anything. When I think it's close, I trim a few nugs and get them in a jar with a hygrometer. I try to get them into the jars at %62, then burp them down to %58 - %60. All of my outdoor jars are sitting at %60 and they've been in jars for 10 weeks now.

I forgot to mention I wet trim and de-nug which could have a lot to do with it but it makes it so much simpler to focus on how dry it is up till its ready to use or process.

I think gonna give it 8 hrs reading in bag if its below 64% im pressing tonight, stay tuned. Should try to jar a quarter and cure it and see how that goes.

Its called watermelon ultra but dont know if the watermelon is a pheno hunt thing and/or if it will actually smell and/or taste like watermelon after a short cure.

I did manage to cure once my last home grown and saw that smell and flavor can change dramatically after a cure.

I looked on build a soil channel only found one video of rosin and its hash rosin but was nice channel.

The bag raised slowly 6 units to 58rh but stayed like that for a while in last 24 hrs. It could be 63rh considering the salt test on that meter reading 70rh.

Going to see what it reads end of day and determine if to press or let sit with lid open for several hours in 60rh dry room.

Its consistent with the how to cure method on this site, not jumping that fast but indeed took 12-24 hrs to have accurate reading.

I just dont get that with weed dried past a certain point. It reads right away and starts dropping? Now I think about it I havent tested dried weed for 24 hrs. Should try.

Its still 58 rh after 8 hrs. Sat in bag with meter for 24 hrs prior to this morning. Was reading 58 before bed so thats almost 24 hrs reading 58rh. Over 7 days ago chopped. Im thinking fire up the press.

11.8% of 4gs .47gs rosin, difference, I pressed 1min 25sec just under 2 tons 180f.

Whats going on here, was that first one long ago water weight? Can things vary like this by 3.2% for whatever reason? Same plant..

I am thinking one who said water weight might be right but this dont crackle in banger tastes delicious. Pretty disappointing but at least its almost 3% more than my other plant.

Sometimes I get answers from reddit not just grow related just used to it coming up often when nothing else does like with this.

I read post of people talking about how you can get different results even from two branches of same plant.

Fustrating but I only just started and it is yielding a little more than my kongs krush but weird, I did see consistancy when pressing anything else till now.

This plant is definitely the weirdest I pressed in terms of varying results but similar to chemdog I tried explaining was yielding more when wet and more recently chopped. Or so it seemed. If only I weighed it..

Too late to finish, will figure out what to do tomorrow. I re read the comment on last page too about varying results. Now that Im held up on my quota being short might as well experiment with rest of oz and see how to get more.

Well this plant aint getting chopped too early thats for sure. No sites of white hairs anywhere, pretty sure if I asked people would say two weeks from now. All orange hairs all the way down to the smallest larf before the surface of pot.

Yea I don’t listen sorry, Im stubborn sometimes. Freakin 20%. Thanks to who said mess around with it, two people said that now. For all I know my kongs krush could yield 15% too.

I tried upping temps to 200 maybe 220 but dont recall.. Thinking I never did 220 before.. Well anyways .8gs off 4 grams flower, 20 freakin percent.

So yea I have some good genetics on hand for this afterall if Im not jumping the gun again. Only thing is it blew out so need to try a tad bit less pressure.

Tool weighs 17.54gs.

Same thing just put 3.5gs flower instead, applying the idea that it lessens risk of blow out. 1.5 mins, two ticks below the 2 ton mark, a little over to finish it off.

220f top platen 215 bottom for the idea to let it rest on a less destructive temp surface while the rest finishes up. Also aids in flow as it seeks areas of cooler temps. Learned that from ytube video.

No blow out, .7gs making 20% again but without blowing out. This is awesome! Weed was reading 58rh for 24 hrs, salt test says it was 63rh so press asap. Let sit in jar another 24 hrs over night since it was late.

Need detailed notes, will be reffering back. Tool weighs 17.54gs.

Had this thing since I bought the press. Saw someone use it and was like oh! Trying out 220F. Same time and ton 1.5 min and just under 2 ton.

Got tired of finger getting hashed up pushing weed into the bag. Tricky getting it into bag but it works.
How do u like it, does it work?

Been puffin on this watermelon ultra rosin all day. Only, only complaint is its like shatter almost. Not sure if its lower tier from high temp press, I guess just more of it? Its almost as terpy as the low temp press.

Any one use hot knife by puffco or something similar? I dont like re-melting the shatter over and over but might not be so bad.

Considering buying one, it is hard to serve. A fan of the high yield, whats wrong with shatter rosin? Ive made harsh dark rosin from pressing super long and hard, and hot; this is nothing like that.
