I got stabbed and they didn't give me. a cookie or oj. Fuck that place.
I salute those of you who can do such things! Some of us are a >bit< needle shy. (and still here because of it...LOL) Heehee....I look back and chuckle at the things I've put nurses through who don't listen to my words when I tell them I tend to pass out/etc. when folks start sticking needles in me. Wasn't funny then...but yeah...I'm betting a few of 'em don't toss their future patients needs off so easily after dealing with me...LOL.

I'm pretty much the same... I don't pass out, but I have to look away when they do it.

This was getting bloodwork, not donating.

I HAVE worked through it as I've aged. It's all definitely a mental thing. I was over 40 before anyone stuck me w/o me passing out right there. Then I went down in the hall 10 minutes later...LOL. On my last blodwork draw a few months ago I whited out really bad/was sweating/chilling like never before. Nurse looked at me and said "I'm A1C and that's what I do when I have a diabetic event".

Got my bloodwork back...and found out I'm pre-diabetes. Ah...what fun.

... Hardest thing about growing up, voluntarily going to the doctor for a shot. Worse yet having to wait in line for one. Fuck this I'm regressing back to childhood ...
*** SHUDDER ***

Recalling that spring in the late 1960's where I received the rabies vaccine. This ~10 year old dude didn't know about stray cats who roam farm country.

There were multiple shots - one jab daily in the stomach - for a total of nine (9) injections. 8 straight days with a single jab followed by a booster shot 1 week after Shot #8.

Now I know why I prefer dogs ...

Yea I heard rabies shot is bad still to this day, with all advance med and such still a bunch in the stomach that hurt.

... Ahh! I wish I could donate. My blood doesn't like having iron in it. Good on ya! ...
Mrs. S. has had some difficulty with donating because of the low iron too. While my hemoglobin count is always off the charts, her hemoglobin count is occasionally too low and she can't donate.

So while she sits it out on the sidelines, I will donate my pint - then take her cookies afterwards.
