First time growing chicken dinner. I was not expecting such large plants lol.Wow those CD stems are trunks! Nice
That fixture is lacking in the blue spectrum. I've had a few stretchy strains shoot right past the light before. I only grow the shorties under that one now, and I cut my flower times to 10/14.Mine are a little out of control as well. Flowering under a 500w Viparspectra bar light. I put it almost right at the canopy and they don't mind. The gg4 back right is going to bust right through the light. About 10 days since flip.View attachment 5377368View attachment 5377366
The gg4 was a last minute addition. I knew it would be bad lol. That fixture is lacking in the blue spectrum. I've had a few stretchy strains shoot right past the light before. I only grow the shorties under that one now, and I cut my flower times to 10/14.
I read a bunch on it, and i used to run it back in the day just to save $. My last grow, my partner wouldn't break from 12-12. So i got to see that for almost a decade. I brought a few of our strains to my garden when we shut down, and i ran 12-12 at first. Then few posts here jarred my memory. I noticed shorter, more compact plants across the board. The shorter daylight period cuts down on most vegetative growth during flowering. You don't get the lateral branching on the main colas, they stay nice and tight. They also finish 5 days to a week sooner. Just my observations getting high and watching plants grow all day. I might try 11/13, I hear that's the sweet spot. Definitely strain dependant too. Some are effected way more than othersThe gg4 was a last minute addition. I knew it would be bad lol.
I would have thought a shorter light period would cause more stretch. I might haul all these plants down to a Tomahawk tent and flower my Bag of Oranges in here. They are super uniform.
I am new to LEDs but I was wondering what percentage are you running your light that close to the plant? ThanksMine are a little out of control as well. Flowering under a 500w Viparspectra bar light. 100%. I have flowered a couple times before with that fixture and I believe it punches above it's weight for 500w. On Amazon for $369 right now, a very nice price for the wattage. I'm currently 8 to 10 inches above the tops. I would not do that with my 650w HLG lights, they throw the same ppfd from 18 to 20 inches away.I am new to LEDs but I was wondering what percentage are you running your light that close to the plant? I wouldn’t count on your potentiometer setting to judge par. I tried everything with shitty results until I bought a par meter and now the lighting is on point.I am new to LEDs but I was wondering what percentage are you running your light that close to the plant? Thanks
Very nice!!!
I dont own one yet, will cheap Amazon one work? I have been using my phone app to get somewhat an idea. I know its not accurate. This is my 1st grow with LEDs so any recommendations I will appreciate.I wouldn’t count on your potentiometer setting to judge par. I bought the photobio par meter for $150 and have no regrets, it was much needed for me to switch to LEDs.I dont own one yet, will cheap Amazon one work?
