DIY with Quantum Boards

The only reason they don't sell Diablo boards is because if you wire it backward the reds blow out, they can't warranty them, it would break em. If you want to buy Diablo or even 288 boards id check cobkits.com there are other resellers as well but that's who I've used in the past always got what I ordered
Thanks for the update. It's been awhile, but I really enjoyed building my own rig and might hopefully build another in the future.

Why does reverse polarity smoke the reds?

Who is the guru? Is it possible to have 6 Qb96 over a 2x4? 320 54v? What would that look like? Thanks
Agree with rocket on that, this is 4 qb96 elite v2 boards slapped on a 24" heatsink running on a xlg 240-h-ab. I love this little fucker, but you don't wanna go under 50w per board it's not the most efficient but everything under it turns out great

The qb96 has red supplementation of both 630 and 660nm which is somewhat different to most other boards made by HLG and the like. White + 660 boards usually end up with a bit of a dip around 630nm.

Was pretty disappointed that HLG QB272 Rspec FR boards were out of stock for the 420 sale and the discount wasn't 25%, they cheaped out with 20%.
Was considering the QB96'S because they were so well liked but I would have spent a lot more there because I was going to repurpose the heatsinks I already have.

@Budzbuddha has a rig with a few 96's and he seems to be rather happy with the performance of them. I'd need at least four to get the coverage I was looking for.
I'm hoping for a 25% discount for the Croptober sale now and maybe they'll have stock then and I can move a few V1 boards to another space.
Good call on the 630 nm...

Im pretty sure that qb96 spectrum has been changed from what it used to be, used to be higher 660 than 630 peak if im not remembering bonkers. I like 90cri phosphors to target 630 though, the 630 diodes tend to be crappy ppf/w

I like the solid 2x2 light spread ( footprint ) of the Qb96 , thats why in that particular rig i built the UV rig in middle is 24” abd plays well with the footprint i needed in a 2x4 set up ( not my favorite tent size but what i had at the time )

I designed it so the hangar clips for that Sunblaster T5 could be easily removed with snap clips still on rail. Plus i used aluminum channel so wiring is running along inside of it . Driver is remote mounted outside of tent.

What i wish is available ( may have to reach out ) are those reflectors like on QB225 rig. I have one that i got for ( QB 225 $199 ) awhile back but looks like they went up in price.

for example : 3x3

4 corner QB96 with or without reflectors powered by say 600 watt driver or split 2 320 drivers per pair.

Mine is running 320 as shown . But occasionally hang a single QB board ( angled ) powered separately @150 watts dimmable for extra power when needed or hang G8 Red led ( 630-660nm only ) bloom rig to punch those lower level buds.

After reading this my next build will be 2 QB96s with HLG 320

They're pretty nice...
I'm still looking at another four QB272 Rspec FR when I can swing it but wanted a good discount for them. I've been kicking it with straight 3000k for a long time and I know those boards grow good flowers and I like the wide coverage and even though the 96's probably have a better spectra I'm cheaper than cheap. Glad you got a great start @Thurston and hope you get the others you talked about.
:D

Is there any dimmers that click? Thanks

Edit* like a level selector, to easily keep multiple boards and drivers on the exact* level of power.

Has anyone made a multi board build with one driver that still allowed some (individual board)height difference from canopy?
What youre talking about is just hanging several single boards but with one large driver. The only issue here would be the wiring, not pulling it out of the pushins while working around it. You can hottglue a wago onto one of the heatsink fins so that youre main wiring is going into the wago and then into connector so that it wont pull on the connector.
