DIY with Quantum Boards

Those are Sofa King awesome - HLG says you need at least 18" over the top of them but yours are higher up than my V1 - 288s.
I'm probably 6-8” from the frame.
That channel is nice, wish I could find some of aluminum like it but it's gotta be OMG expensive...
I might just pop some low RPM 120mm fans on them and see if I can put them even higher, like yours. Maybe just an "S" hook on each corner might be decent...

Sweet rig and it brings the dank for you!
Thank you. It is pretty satisfying to assemble and use something. A feeling of accomplishment nomatter how short lived is sweet

These will last you awhile so this feeling will last longer than many things!
I'm driving everything very softly so it's going to last - not that the past five years haven't been good, but I'm looking for another five at least!
I'm Sofa King Cheap too lol !

I am planning a 4 qb 272 build and am wondering what version 320 meanwell to get for wiring in a parallel-series. Would HLG-320H-C2800B work for this?

This will be used in a 3x3 tent, does anyone have any recommendations on their spacing?

That drivers voltage should be around 114V so you should be able to do 2 boards in series and then another parallel string with the last 2 boards, assuming the boards are less than 57V @80w. Id check with HLG just to be sure though, they dont give much info on these boards.

This is what they show on their website, am I better off just running it in straight parallel or straight series?

This is 2 series, 2 parallel as i suggested. Straight parallel or series wont work well; 4 boards in series wont light up with that driver, 4 boards all in parallel will give you output around 160w if it even lights up.

There are several ways of doing 2S2P though, this is one.

Thank you for the help!

I can either do the slate 2 doubles and have tighter spacing or spend a bit more and get the singles and spread them out more. What do you guys think for a 3x3?

I've got four in parallel and a 54v meanwell driver works fine for full power.
The CC meanwell should be fine too.
GL and post pics!

So considering changing my lights. Thinking the 6 of the HLG QB272 boards to cover 5’x7’area. Really a 4x4 drain pan and a 2x4 drain pan. What do you guys recommend in PS setup? Maybe two PS one with 4 boards and one with two. I might have some benchtop power supplies somewhere that could power them all but should get something more up to date. Rather not have any power quality issues.

Ok fire away! @sfw1960

Whatever a Meanwell driver you buy, make sure you have a B or AB version.
I don't understand people buying a driver and then having to fiddle around with the pots on the driver itself.

Benchtop supplies have voltage and current regulation, what sort of power quality issues could there be?

They may be 30+ year old power supplies and could have power-on voltage spike or high in-rush current. I could scope them to determine I guess but first I need to find them and see if my ancient HP scope will still work. I am not familiar with these quantum boards, is there any protection on the boards?

Understood. No protection on the boards, just LEDs. I suggest Meanwell HLG series drivers with AB or B type dimming, or Inventronics drivers.

What is the difference between AB and B? I have ordered my boards but am trying to decide on the driver.

Thinking HLG-320H-C2800B, or AB. That should be enough power for 4 Qb272 in a 3x3 right?
