Buckets and drainage

Going to be doing my first outdoor grow in over a decade, ready to transplant outside soon -

What size pots am I best of transplanting into and what holes for drainage? Also wondering what compost or soil people would recommend.

I personally use 20G Rubbermaid (well close to it) garbage cans outside. I then borrowed a drill and proceeded to drill about 12-14 holes around the can and then 4-6 on the bottom for drainage. Last year I used HP All Purpose Mix, but upped my game with Ocean Forest/Happy Frog soil and 10% perlite. I’m gonna finally be planting them I think outside this weekend.

What do you do for nutrients? I am debating on moving one plant outside in a 20g can but I'm thinking the amount of nutrients I need would be crazy. Do you fertilize the same way you would an indoor grow? Is there something else you would use to keep that amount of soil right ?

all honesty I don’t really keep track. if I see some need for food it’s usually Epson salt and my MegaCrop going in. This year I upped my soil game with Happy Frog and Ocean Forest in my buckets. They should have plenty of nutrients for most of the grow and by flowering time. My soil would of sunk and exposed my roots (like every year) This time I have a couple more Ocean Forest soil bags to add, cover and provide nutrients in the flowering stage

So you if you use HF or OF for soil then that should be good enough until flower , then just do like you would on an indoor grow ? What specifically would you use once at flower? Or is it just the same as indoor just a lot more since it's a bigger container? Sorry for all the equations and thanks for the reply

Again come flower I just watch my plants and see what they need. So PK Boost, Cal/Mag, Epsom Salts, and MegaCrop are my usual nutrients I use.
