Rock N Roll :) wheres our 80's Humboldt Skunk danky danky man these some of the youngsters have no idea what danky danky weedz are all about , Man we payed 70$ 8th at a Greatful Dead show in 1988 was soooo crazy good wasn't skunk but it was sooo danky , we had Humboldty skunky weedz all day long that was some screaming weedz too., all I can say it was awesome . My buddy Z went on from those times to pull 1500 a year w/ the purple urkles the old/org strain 25 yrs in Mendocino :) . We used to get some the goods at the Dead shows . Other than that San Joaquin Co, was throwing it down to :) . I can'y believe how far off even the new strains are they've tried to get close with is sadning to me ! LOlolll Haha,
I was at the dead concert in Chicago, 92 or 93 can’t remember, acid was tripping, $5 bucks a hit . Best weed then was the real skunk or Hawaii in the can. I think it was $60 or 80 bucks but well worth it. Back then most of the shit was pressed Mexican weed so getting anything not pressed and seedless was a pleasure to come by. It was 91 I started closet growing in the Emily’s garden with a ripped off the pole hps light. Soon I had to expand as my weed was selling for top dollars in the south side. Man I miss the old days!

Id say garlic and burnt rubber are more the Afghan side of things bud you do get it in some Pakistani lines too though ime
Believed there was ghani or indica in it due to the round buds. But no rubber/garlic detected by me in that skunk of yore.

Just noticed a little chocolate taste in the Columbia Gold x Skunk18 as well.

my mistake it was a quote from an associate of sam "His former associate Phil Noland tells me, in the ’70s, Watson used a tiny greenhouse, 10 feet by 20 feet, near Mt. Madonna. He combined Colombian seeds (sativa) with Acapulco Gold and Afghan (indica) seeds, to bring down the enormous height of the Colombian sativa plant and mitigate the odor to make it more grower friendly."
Ask phil what year he did that in ? All sam did was grow jerrys afgan x colombian next to his own acpulco gold. One of the strains hermied on to the other and skunkman called this the original sk#1. It was never a planed breeding. Jerry is the same guy who bred cali O and the afghan he originaly used in the afghan colombian was from maple leaf willson. Nevil found his afghan T ( from maple leaf via jim) was similar to the afghan used to originaly make the sk#1 cross. A diffrent afghan (more lemony type from his afg#1) was later used by sam in holland to stabalize the sk#1.

I was just gonna say yeah that's the dude who Cali o came from Sam did try to claim he bred it for a while but all the older Cali growers know it comes from jerry

You know that might make sense why the early 80s skunk1 was super unstable sexually and longer flowering ime yet the later stuff was more stable and bloomed alot quicker also less of the weird sativa phenos like pearl phenos and stuff come outta the later ones obviously they claim to have done this through inbreeding and good selections but I never been convinced fully more hybridisation would explain it easier

Note how they spell Skunk, bless them, it was their first years...
Blast from the past that I still have some catalogues myself GHS tfd etc and some later ones like dinafem Barney's etc what's sad is half these Dutch companies all dead now like home grown fantasseeds and so many others

No Cigar. And we had Skunk, long before those 2 strains were available. Friend grew it from 78-79, and got ratted out in 1984, and lost it, to the cops. My buddy grew tons of it on the Levisa Fork, of the Big Sandy River, in South East Ky-Va border. It was in the middle of nowhere/mountains then, and you could grow about as much as you could plant. This would also be about a 120 miles, 1 way drive, on a 2 lane road, loaded with coal trucks, in the mountains, of E Ky. It was truly dangerous. Youd never get away with it now.
Same thing for the Ohio River.
He lived ( RIP ) in north east Ky, and would drive 50 miles to Garrison Ky, put his boat in the water, and go west, and then go across the river, to Adams County Ohio, and plant on the back side of some really really really nice farms, that grew corn, and was as flat, as a pancake. Plants got sun from dawn, until dark. Main thing you have to worry about growing on the river, is FOG, in the fall, and it can destroy the weed. But nothing grows weed like a river bottom.

But anything from Mr Nice, or anything else with Sk1, or if you see Sk1 advertised. remember. Sk1 NEVER had a skunk smell, and is a sweet type skunk, with possible catpiss phenos, cheese, floral hash. But Skunk, ammoniated, sulfur, aint one of them.
Nothing Watson, ever had, was reeking skunk.
You suppose the stuff your friend grew was the mountain skunk of KY? I have access to get some beans,

My buddy got the Skunk from William Keith "NOODLES" Hayes, RIP- in Meigs County Ohio, in 1978-79.
Is it possible it was the same Skunk?? Yes. But I have no proof.
COPA Genetics, has some of Noodles genetics. I believe he is friends with Noodles Nephew, and they hunt together. Thats what I was told.
Noodles gave my buddy Pure Indica, in 1972. He lost it, when he lost the Skunk, in 1984.
