How hard is it to grow in winter

Can't keep a hps on 24/7 especially if I make it to flower phase also I don't trust hps lights both grows have hermed on me could be endless possibilities to why but I know them hps lights beam way too much heat

You need a reality check.
People have been growing with HPS for decades. So the idea it's the HPS fault your plants hermed and not poor genetics or poor environmental control is crazy.

Also, houses are generally at a reasonable temperature unless derelict.

Your also not considering that under HID- HPS , CMH or MH the grow room can be a fair degree lower temp for plants to be happy, as opposed to LED which we generally like to keep warmer.

Standard practice either way is lights off during warmest part of the day.

End of the day, if it costs more to keep a space warm using led then it defeats the purpose.

Don't sweat it just make sure you supplement heat with a oil heater or something as with LEDs it's a must here in winter that or mix led with hid lighting anyway your not alone there is a big UK growers thread on here that might be worth looking at too

Summer/fall is best for me based on basement temps that time of year. I need to add a heater in the winter to an already over crowded tent.

Prevent it like this.

No chiller. DWC buckets roll from 71-67.
Build a panel for your tent. You reduce the tent part that you need to heat and cool by about 15%

I agree why I still use hps only in a warm summer can it be a bit much but Scotland only gets them now and again and in winter it's a must that's why alot of growers here mix hid and led or just use hps alone without it you gonna need to supply heat and unless it's cheap like Cory says your defeating the purpose running a led and be better off with hids on a side note more old stuff is adapted to hid light has been for decades i cant see it flipping stuff out you definitely need more nutes under led also

You'll need a heater or dehumidifier, for me a dehumidifier is a better option as that takes care of humidity and gives of heat at the same time.

Growing in winter isn't difficult it's just expensive.

Uk conditions are less than ideal especially up in the north.

That's what the oil heater is for that and a timer for lights off just remember to tape up any light on it if it has one

Theres been light frost here early morning this week, temps plummeting now just yesterday I put a blanket around my clone tent to keep the temps up.

I'm thinking about holding off with another crop until next Feb/March I've got weed from previous crops still to smoke, oth when I'm less busy I might cross Blockbuster with Exo that could be a good match for dank cheese seeds.

We had odd day it's been frosty mornings but only twice in a month and nothing like up north it's been cloudy last few days and yes it does sound good it be a cheese bx I think furthest folk have went with that was bx 5 or 6

I've been using an led for popping seeds first few weeks
My mate has a 4 bar 100w all in t5 light and gives off a great wee heat
Just put a propogator under it
The led is still better less watts like but the t5 is a suggestion like for its heat

I like my t5s for vegging they're similar to hid in the sense they grow without hassle, it's barely 20c ambient I'm still happy with their health, the growth isn't the fastest but im not looking for speed from them.

I'm very tempted to do an indoor grow with leds but it's autumn & soon to be winter how difficult would it be to grow during the winter? What kind of problems & challenges would I be met with? .

To me, it's easier to grow in the colder months as long as you keep your conditions right I like to flower between 71°-75°F with about 42% humidity. In veg, I like to run between 75°F and 80°F with 55 to 60% humidity I keep oscillating fans going at all times even during lights out aimed at the top of the canopy one blowing one way and fan 2 blowing the other way. I also use co2. I dig leds but I prefer hps

I've a fan right beside my light blowing down the heat off the led light onto the canopy
Transitioning into led I'm trying to recreate the hps enviroment if you know what I mean
That is a big thing I noticed switching
The hps is heating up the leaves under it
