Ticket Prices Out of Control

Go on eBay and look for old ticket stubs before year 2000.

Find a national act that played at an arena or shed (good chance it is still around under a different name).

Put the month/year and face value into the CPI Inflation Calculator at bls.gov

Marvel at ticket prices in the 70's, 80's and 90's were consistently $40 - $50 in Nov 2024 dollars.

Stop bending over to see a band.

Every time I see a concert on TV, literally everyone in the audience is "watching" the concert on their phone screen! LMFAO! Goddamn, that is the stupidest shit in the world...people spending a shit ton of money to see an artist who's likely miming the whole thing, anyway, and then getting a great spot, close to the stage....but watching the whole thing on a 3" screen, instead! Why? So that they can go home and re-post their shaky footage on a FaceBook page that nobody else will ever watch because they've got shaky footage of their own to post on their own FB page.

Even the jazz clubs are charging ridiculous ticket prices! LOL! All the jazz masters are dead (or almost dead)! WTF?

I went to a concert at an arena venue this past summer. Tickets were $100 for decent seats and the only drinks you could have in the venue were sold inside, so the choices you had was small water bottles for $9, cans of shitty beer for $18, or shot sized mixed drinks for $25. I mean, after an hour of any good show you're gonna get thirsty, wtf. I felt abused. It was a great show, and the band was well worth the ticket price, but the way that venues price gouge is ridiculous.

Bring an empty water bottle. Most big venues now have bottle filling stations. The ones that don't still have water fountains. I will pull an empty water bottle from the trash and rinse/fill it in the bathroom sink before I buy a $9 bottle of water.
