So you SHOULD farm.

I am farming. Heres the thing. If you try and compete with the big farms you will go under. You have to farm Organic, this will insure that you get a premium for your crop. And don't farm something that is going to take a lot of room and bring you little money. Like corn. You need to find a crop that will yield you a good return on your investment. Farming 40 acreas is not realistic. think 10 acres. Farm Veggies and sell them at the farmers market. All organic! You will easily make a living. I live in canada, and here that IS a living!.

Grow your pot in your basement too :)

oh yea the farm thing what if you grow trees????? like a tree farm? i meet a trucker that drove around the usa doing this job and had tons of land i forgot witch state but he grows palm trees...... gets free seeds from his big palmtrees and plants them.....has all different types of sizes.......would that work or even other kinds of trees.............

and i thought corn was going to be in high demand soon because of the FLEX FLUE there trying to turn corn into gas??

well i am open to any ideas...... i want to have my own land and be my own boss

fuck yea i want nothing more to start farming!!!i would love it and like simplesimon said think smallerand organic check out what is in demand in your area for starts, and check out other farms in your area! i went to a lil festival last year called chucks farm harvest fest(great times) in state college pa. i meet the owner of the farm! from that moment on its been my dream!

I have a freind who grows christmas trees,this is the first year he will not make any money on them.The flood of rain at the beginning of the year killed almost all of them.

That is part of the reason i had to stop farming.When the cost for me to produce the milk was less than what they were paying for it,i got out.OPH

Like has been said start a big garden and grow what sells best.Sweet corn, tomatoes,bell peppers and pumkins for in the fall.OPH

plant all ur legal crops around the perimeters of the field and plant the weed in the interior of the crops. u can have the best of both worlds and look way more legit than just growing a bunch of weed

look to all of you farmers that think that its not possible to be a big dog farmer i think that you are wrong why because all of the items we buy out of the store they have not all ways been on top you know and i feel if one of you have the ability to farm and someone like me have the money and the land but no farming skill you can help you know and that is how we work our way to the top instead of saying its not possible the impossible is now possible Obama 2009

That's exactly how they get caught around here. People go into the middle of a corn field and take out the corn and plant pot. Then in the fall the porkchoppers fly around and find it. Then the cops go chop it down and leave a business card and a note (because they're sarcastic assholes).

Growing in the middle of a field is a really, really, monumentally bad idea. :hump:

Good morning all well i just watched king corn pretty good flick but i was wondering
What if a person had 10 acres of land 20 cows 1 bull inside of a barn with stalls where they can't move as much
and you use the rest of the land to farm organic feed is what you give lettuce broccoli no corn at all
would you be able to sell them within 9 months of birth if so will they bring in morn money that 1 acre of corn

im not a farmer but have grown many a crops. lol years ago the gov. used to pay people to not plant corn, not sure about now a days. yeah ima get up at the crack of noon and not plant corn and get paid. gotta luv it.

it burns me up when i go and have to pay between $8.50 and $10.50 per 50 lb. bag of corn.

they have stoves that burn corn, they make biodegradable plastics with corn, animals and people eat corn. much higher demand than years ago.
lets not forget to mention the corn cobb pipe.

if corn got you high, I'd be in high heaven. There's nothing but corn around here.


PS you can't feed 20 cows and 1 bull for a full year on 1 acre of corn, and that thing about not letting them move around is just cruel, would you like to be shut in a stall for your whole life and never get to move around? We already have that for people, it's called prison.

Farming, I don't want to have to be available all the time the way livestock requires.

There are too many pittbulls already. A few weeks ago people got attacked by their own pittbulls in their own house. They called the cops who came and shot the dogs. Now they are suing the cops. Too many stupid people have these dogs and have no control over them. Between the stupidity of the owners and the stubbornness of the dogs it's a recipe for disaster. People need to stop getting and breeding these dogs just because they think it's cool. It's not so cool when the dog has you cornered in your own living room.

until the dog attacks someones kid and you get sued. I've never heard of anyone being attacked by a field of crops. You've got to see the bigger picture, look all the way down the road to see what's at the end of it.
