Plant don't even double in height?

Hi all, i have a bit of a weird question that i can't seem to find an answer for on the net. There has been a few grows of the same big bud/white widow plants by friends and after vegging to say 8" and then flowering they all end up about 2ft, which is 3 times the size, quite normal and as expected. However, another friend is doing the exact same plant, exact same cuttings etc etc, he veggies a bit longer in search of maybe 2ft 6" harvest size, but for some strange reason his plants never ever even double in size let alone treble like everybody else that is doing? Its crazy, happened to him 3 on a row but every single other persons was normal? 600w hps, 1sqmish, 24 degrees celsius day, 18 night, good vents, its all proper, no other strain does it to him in same grow room???? Anyone got any crazy ideas as to what this may be? Maybe lights i say? Has it about 16" away from top of plant , u can do hand test for a min and it still aint too hot, in vegging its a 125w envirolite blue 18hrs, the thing is he always puts the lights as close as he can but he does do it pretty much from the beginning, ie as soon as he switches too flower its 16" away? I dunno, he says that fine as the temps are always good, he never gets any heat burn or leaf edge curl? I give up, sorry for the marathon post! Peace!

Pot size? Is the node length the same? How is the weight of each plant?
Seeds or clones? There is a lot of variables. Doubling in height is a rule of thumb. Not true in all cases.

Hi there and thanks for the reply. 13litre deep round pots, node length is pretty much the same, weight looks ok, they are about 2ft and yield looks like gonna be about 2-2.25 off each, which is ok, but just can't get the desired height like the others are getting? Everybody's grow is done from the same cuttings from the same mother? Thanks again.

if it is showing preflowers which his prolly are when switching to12/12 they wont streach.. at least every plant ive grown worked out this way

his plants dnt have to grow into maturity, yours do.. how old is the mother

hi wanna ask:
i'm growing BB in a 10 liter pots the plants are about 1 m high /trimed/
they r in they 3 rd day of flowering /12-12/ will they double they hight

I would be concerned only if they got more weight of finished bud. Taller plants are not better. I leave the veg lighting on during the stretch period. Much shorter compact weighty plants.

I don't know much about your grow(variables) but likely they will double.
If you are not careful the plants will stretch to triple.

Same container size?
Same dirt?
Same watering?
Same water / ph level?
Same grow box size?
Same air flow / heat venting?
Is anything different, ANYTHING?
My buddy and I have the same evrything except I have a room and he has a closet. My plants get taller, I think due to air space around them. They don't have to fight one another, just our theroy.

Peace

Ah, you could be onto something there about the maturity?? Because he veggies longer than us, but again, don't make sense cos i veg exactly same as him just light bit further apart??

Hi SlowToker, no nothing different, 3 of em were built at the same time and we just worked it all out and done all 3. I can only think it must either be lights too close or something with the cuttings?? I give up

Sativas will grow more then indica in flowering, so look at the ratio of your hybrid.

And as previously stated, why be concerned with a shorter plant?
60-75g per plant isn't bad at all.

Last round here, plants were shorter. I might chalk it up to clones of clones. but took few notes to say for sure.

Hi there BBB, i'm not unhappy as such, just know there is something limiting me and i don't know what i am doing different? I was also thinking of doing 6 3ft plants instead of 9 2ft ones to give each plant that extra bit of space between and the extra light each plant would receive due to having only 2 rows instead of 3. Anyway, i picked up on you saying the clones on clones theory. What did you mean by that. Did you mean that if you take clones from clones from clones it would do this? Or maybe it does other things? Please enlighten me, thanks.
