What is going on??? discoloration/chlorosis

Hey all! I would appreciate any diagnosis/advice/help you can provide.

As you can see in my sig, I'm growing Bubblegum and NLxWW.

The Bubblegum plants are doing fine so far, but I'm starting to worry a lil' about the NLx.

I noticed last week that there was some weird discoloration on some of the fan leaves, and assumed it was a mineral deficiency (either Magnesium or Manganese) so I added some molasses with the feed last time. This really didn't do anything, as some of the newer leaves have also developed this peculiar discoloration (notice in the photo how it only affects half a blade on some of the fan leaves). On one or two of the lower, larger fan leaves, the color is now almost completely pale green.

Could this be an early N def in flowering? I've been through all the links posted in the sticky at the top of this forum, but nothing seems to fit the bill.

take it easy monkey the plant is changing slow down make sure your not giving too much attention ie ..water nutes ect....

I know it's changing, but that just looks abnormal.

I only water and feed (alternatively) every 3-4 days. As far as nutes go, I'm using about 60% of the recommended dosage. They've been flowering (not just 12/12) for about 12 days now. I don't think I'm over-caring...

that pic kind of sucks, but I must say if 12 days of 12/12 than you got some fast growers. from those crappy pics, it looks like the newer growth's fans are discoloring around the outside of the leaf edges, turning almost a lime green. if this is correct, than your issue is most likely potassium. noticed it today on some gals, which is very normal for 3rd and 4th week flowering-you may just have some fast growers like I stated. and Mg def usually coincides with potassium. need some good bloom nutes.

well actual flowering for 12 days. switched to 12/12 21 days ago.

Yeah that pic does suck, so hopefully these 2 are a lil' bit better.

Note especially how it affects a few of the blades and not the entire leaf, or in some cases only one half of the blade!

You might be right about the potassium deficiency, as I also noticed a bit of necrosis on some of the more severely affected leaves.

However, the yellowing doesn't start just on the edges. it's like yellow/lime patches in a pretty random order; especially on the larger leaves. Still think it's K?

I did start using bloom nutes (CANNA Boost Accelerator w/PK 13/14) but at half strength as I didn't want my babies to get nute burn...

yea, if you look at the any of the charts, you will see that K progresses like: leaf edges turning lime green, than chlorosis and than you will get the rust spots. it doesnt look too bad but you do want to correct it. the PK should fix it. I use it also and half strength as well. some hydrated lime added into your top layer of soil will help with mg and ca

I'll definitely up the PK next time I feed and perhaps add a little more molasses for its rich Cal-Mag content.

hey no prob. K has difficulty being absorbed if there is an excess of salts from the ferts so if you havent flushed in a long while-something to consider as well. just make sure if you do flush, you immediately feed. I think ur fine at the half strength pk. also, one other thing I noticed was slight burning of your leaf tips, so leave you tap water sit out for a day or two to allow some of the chlorine to evap.

I fed my girls on Friday with that extra dose of PK13/14 as well as the molasses for the Mg.

Obviously the affected leaves aren't going to get better, but at least the new growth looks OK so far.

exactly. since K is mobile, it prop wont affect newer growth-unless very severe. I got to say that I still believe it is a classic K deficiency and would have started exhibiting more classic signs with contiued yellowing and finally necrosis of the leaf fringes. But that spotting is still a little unusual. something to watch during this very critical time of flower

Isn't the spotting a symptom of Calcium deficiency? I'm going to flush the NLX plants after tomorrow, followed by a dose of nutes. I'm thinking it's a mix of deficiencies: K, Mg and Ca. Gotta get rid of those excess salts in the soil!

np. relooking at your pics, that contorting of the leaf tips-going sideways and what not, is a sign of over fert of N and some of that spotting mottle could be small nute burn from N but I never asked what nutes you were giving. calcium spotting is more patterned, K spotting happens on the leaf tips like you have after the edges go yellow. I see only that type of spotting on the leafs that have chlrosis in ur pics. a good flush should help and immediately follow up with nutes-except no N. could it be you are not using bloom nutes and only veg?
also, u will now you have corrected it when the sympton stops in its tracks and progresses no further the same day. finicky little bitches sometimes

well here's what I did:

when I switched to 12/12, i continued using the vegging nutes (CANNA Terra Flores) until actual flowering began. Then, i used a 30/70 mix of veg nutes and flowering nutes to not shock the plants. That small addition of Nitrogen-heavy Veg nutes during the start of budding may very well have caused this.

If I watered them this morning, can I flush them tomorrow? I usually water/feed every 3 days, allowing the soil to dry a little.

indeed flush , but you say 60 % of nutes man go up to 100 slowly a few points ever 2 - 3 days , dont worry about chlorine it doesnt matter trust me , if its defficiant , its because your not putting enough nutes , how do i know..... you said the lower leaves and 60 % boom not enough nutes = lower newer leaves slowly oncoming nute burn looking side effects , slowly pile it bakc up youl see your lil guy wake up they give you amounts and ppms because they need to be followed, if you see all sorts of leaves quickly utrning yellow or brown in a severe way fast , lower the nutes add water , find a happy medium and get a tds/ec/ppm meter and play around with it.............. but ur doing it with soil, fuck do soil runoff tests to check ppm i guesse but you need to go more toward reccomended ppm

yeah, I stepped the nutes up to 70%, but i guess the NLX simply need more than the Bubblegum.

I decided early on that it would be better to under-feed a bit that burn 'em with nutes... perhaps I was too conservative with the nutes. I'll flush 'em tomorrow and give 'em 85% nutes tomorrow.

Yeah they're supposed to start yellowing towards the end of flowering, but not this soon and not in this manner.

That was my first guess too wishful thinking...

I cant believe you will listen to this mumbling. I cant even make sense of what he is saying. ur plants are not deficient b/c u r not running enough nutes. the lack of K very well could be from excessive salts and not b/c of low nute levels. I dont go more than 35% ever, but thats just me. your leaf tips would not be contorting if it was merely deficient. or was a P deficiency which you dont have. go 100% or even 85% and ur problem will worsen
