I'll refer to my quote from Orwell on page 2... and so, if you do join the Armed Forces, make sure you're not afraid to die. :fire:
It really depends on your job if your an intel analysis your good, water purification, xray tec, supply. all these jobs are fobbits. All you'll need to look out for is mortars.:wall:

i definitely wouldn't join the army or the marines :(

but the air force, coast guard and the navy doesn't seem too bad.

i would love to be in the coast guard or navy, get to travel to places for free lol.

Im only talking about joining the Reserves guys.. not enlisting

Honestly being in the army, you dont make enough money to really make it worth my while. if I stuck with doing steamfitting in 5 years i will be making over 70K a year. thing is I hate driving 50+ miles to work and like i said working outside blows in the winter and summer months.

I want to run my own business eventually but i need start up money. So yeah basically ill be joining just for the cash bonus. 10k on initial sign up plus the base pay I make for the 5-6 months im at bootcamp.

Problem is the negatives almost weigh out the positives. Thats why i havent acted on past inquires to the military.

The biggest negatives i can think of are:

I wont see family or friends for 5+ months

Ill miss the entire summer basically.

I have to eat crappy food the entire time, and at their rations (im 6'5 250 i like to eat)

I have to keep my hair short

I cant smoke weed

I have to go one weekend a month, 2 full weeks a year

The whole control over my life thing really turns me off.

....And so on

Aghhhhh Maybe i just need to suck it up and live with the career path i have for now. Honestly I make 2k+ a month now, so i could just save my money for 6 months and probably have 5k+....But that means i have no life for 6 months also.

Fuck i hate making tough life decisions

I just took a practice test for the ASVAB at the recruiting office about a week ago. I scored a 78 and the Navy recruiter said I'm (possibly) eligible for Navys nuclear program. Its either I do that or take an electronics job in the Air Force.

I eventually would like to get a degree and become an officer and fly jets! I'll have to pick up Fdd, if thats the case, and We can go bomb some stuff... While stoned! HAHA, that would be fun!

:bigjoint:

I cant smoke weed
Ya, that part is a bummer.

I'm thinking about getting stoned (I mean stationed) in Cali or Hawaii. I don't see how I'm going to be able to pass up some of the finer Herbs.

considering you only need a 35 to get into the navy, you did awesome!

I just took the pratice test (200 questions, my head hurts lol) and i must say it made me want to go back to college. the algebra was some of the hardest! Lol i forgot how to do it

Im going to take it more serious tommorow and see how I score when im not high.

i'll grab my helmet. weee heee
All right! Its a plan! HAHA (I'll see You in 6 years or so.. HAHA)

We can fly next to SocataSmoker. Watch the Sun rise at 35k feet.

On a more serious note, a friend of mine actually paid to fly a MIG. I think he said it was 1000 dollars per 30 mins or something like that. He had pictures and he showed Me the brochure, it was legit. He said he ended up paying for an hour of flying.

Thanks!

I did well in school. I was always in the advanced classes at a vocational high school. I took up electronics engineering, so math had to be second nature. I studied calculus for a little while. Math is fun!

I hope You do great on Your real test. Practice makes perfect.

No man, the reserves are being deployed. Just because they promise something, doesn't mean that it'll happen. Maybe you think you're not going to Iraq, but once you enlist, who do you think makes that decision, them or you?
Ya, the Army is pretty hairy. I don't think I would even join their reserves, especially at times like these. PPPO, have You thought about the Air Force (reserves)? Everyone says they have it the best.

You know, I've seriously considered joining the military and I've presented a lot of the same points that you do. But, when it comes down to it, are YOU ready to DIE for you country? Are you ready to leave and not come back? Are you ready to deprive your family of a son, grandson, or brother? It's kind of a serious decision.

Just make sure you bring some edibles! :bigjoint:
I'll bake a cake for You! Or some "special" brownies. :bigjoint:

Have You ever flown a jet plane or just propped?

I would love to fly a supersonic fighter. Doing barrel rolls at Mach 2! That has to be every piliots dream. No?

(I might go to sleep:sleep: soon, good night all)

:-P

Check your male to female ratio's for any part of the US military, then the only thing you'll be fixing is manwich.

The plane I have a good majority of my hours in is a turboprop, essentially a jet engine with a propeller attached instead of fan blades. As for a real turbine jet aircraft, nope... I've flown in one, private and airline... never got the chance to man the helm though. :(

You join the reserves you'll see plenty of action. Most of our reservists are in Iraq or Afghanistan. I'd look for other ways to motivate yourself. For someone who only likes working in certain conditions you sure are looking into the wrong profession.
