he or she should be showing signs of sex soon...i forget how many weeks in veg off the top of my head that the first signs pop up but....ill try to find it...do you have any limit on space?? could be another factor in when you should start to flower...

i would like to keep this plant very small, but im coming to the realization that it may not be possible to keep it a foot or under, as planned. I do have space to use if needed.... I topped (FIM'd is more like what happened) on 2/10 and there is mad amount of new growth on top.

let me know what you think!

hmm in my eyes atm you got a couple choices:
1) Keep vegging until the plant shows its pre flowers and find out its sex (then scrap if its male((unless you wanna polenate)) or if female ((begin flowering or cut clones)))
2) Wait till the 4 week mark (or start now) and put it into flowering regardles....(only thing is we dont know if its male or female)

I think you are probably good to flower it, the worst that can happen is you only yeild an 8th. and after all, it's a learning exerience. do whatever you want, if you think drain-o will make it grow better, pour some on there and see what happens. Im not saying you are dumb enough to pour draino on your plant, merely demonstrating that it is YOUR plant and whatever you do, you will know whether or not it was the right thing.

and for the record, i did not call your plant UGLY (nor am i a meanie) I have just never seen one so short with such arge leaves. it's like a baby with full grown hands!!

hahahhahahha a baby with giant hands you are so right thats hilarious. its afghani, im concerned that if i fk it up, i wont have another shot, as it was pure coincidence that i found these seeds in a hermie bud. So, whats the verdict - start flowering? 12/12?

thanks

okay just measured - my lil plant is 3" tall, and 6" wide, and so bushy you can barely see thru it. Flower now or try to stretch? And if try to stretch, any suggestions (other than building larger cabinet)

thanks!

Do it to it. switch it up and see what happens. i believe seeds from a hermie are more likely to produce hermie offspring, which would equal more seeds...and more hermies... anyways, it is going to grow significantly during its long flowering period and i think it will do good things.

ok well here is my problem. the case it is in only has about five inches before the plants touch the lights, then another five or so inches beyond that in height. what would suggest I do?

1) is it possible for the top to be removed/raised?

2) what type of light are you growing under?

If the answer to #1 is no, i would flower immediately. obviously the most probable case or there would be no problem :) if youre using HID lighting you might be in a pickle soon, worry about that later. if youre using CFL just make sure the plant doesnt touch the lights (build a cage if you have to?) and you should be good to grow.

I am using CFL's - the case its in is a computer tower so cant be raised... what is your best suggestion? a bigger grow space? or flower immediately?

thanks!

my little mini plant (baby with man hands) is so bushy that i have no idea what is going to happen. i put her(i hope) on 12/12 last night, and im posting the photos today. you can see all the little bunched up tiny leaves under the big guys, is this okay? any suggestions? is 12/12 a bad idea? its been veg. for 4 weeks exactly.... about 3" tall and 6" wide ......

please tell me what you think!

oh right , the last photo is of a little seedling. every time i put it in the box, it keels over, and i have to put it back into the window sill. what can i do for this little baby? its another afghani seed so i'd like to keep it alive!

thanks as always!

That's not top soil, is it? I see lots of bark and not much for perlite or anything. Your roots will really struggle in that stuff. That could have something to do with the slow growth also...

i used "House Plant Potting Mix", "Promotes Nw Growth, Healthy Root System, Low Maintenance" - the bark etc you see is mulch from this ben&jerry's super potting mix i had left over i actually used the "bark" to prop up that little seedling when its stem was keeling over lol. So, i don't think its topsoil...

The big one looks good, i think you may actually get a little herb from it. a computer case is a very small grow space, you should definitely look into something a lil larger. as for that seedling, why do you need it? you have a plant to cut clones from...

ok here is my question.... when do i cut the clones? now, or after its been flowering a while, or what? as you can see my plant is very micro, so the branches are even micro-er lol. I have a bigger box im setting up right now, hopefully with the intent on letting the plant expand horizontally mostly, and manipulating the tops to bend down once they get too tall....

let me know and as always, thanks for the input!

oh right, i moved the bigger one up to the lights to try to get some light to the little leaves under the big floppy ones, and i burnt the shit out of a couple of the leaves... oopsie. i cut the brown bits off and hope that it will recover....

Looking good so far, good luck on the first go at things. I too went with Afghan, and ended up with a monster girlie, 5ft! Thinking about harvesting next week I'll let you know how she smokes. Keep tokin'

you can cut clones at any time, just try not to remove the upper ones cuz thats where your bud will come from! so cut some of the lowers and dip them in some rooting powder (available at your local garden center for 5 bucks) you may consider transplanting your large plant into the new box and using your computer case as a clone garden?

It is Preferable to take clones before you Start flowering.
