Switching from distilled water to tap, mid grow?

Anyone do it? Now that I have 9 plants vs the 4 from my last grow buying distilled water is getting expensive. So I'm thinking of switching to tap water. The water here is treated by the city... Thanks

It probably won;t be a big deal. If you want to be extra careful adjust your nutrients to account for the ppm of the tap water. I use straight tap water and it's about 250 ppms on average and my plants are fine.

dude your better off just making one trip to the store and buying yourself a nice water filter..
better than buying bottled water every other day and using regular oild tap water!!

OK, I'm not using bottled water, I'm using distilled water which is 72 cents a gallon around here.

I don't have a ppm meter, all I have is ph test kit.

Anyone actually have experience with switching mid grow. I know a lot of you guys just use tap water, but I'm wondering what effect it will have switching mid grow

And boiling the tap water is out of the question since boiling that much water would be very time consuming.

I have just done it with my grow. you will have no problems because of switching unless your tap water in your area is really hard.

Depends on the water provider. All tap water will have chlorine which does not help at all.

Boiling tap water will only concentrate the chem's in the water.

The water filter (Brita?) is a good idea.

You can also distill your own water using two pots and some ice. I'll explain it if that's the way you want to go. Up to you.

Tap water in fl has a ph of 8.5 and smells like bleach! I use reverse osmosis water wich has a ph of 7 and is only 30 cents a gallon. Used with ff soil and nutes I never have to adjust my ph level useing quarter strength nutes.

I use to buy distilled water b/c I thought it was better but the price was adding up. What I do now is add a chlorine, chloramine and ammonia remover to my tap water. I bubble it for an hour then put my plants in. It works just fine. Lowes has some good stuff in the pond section.

The ph was the least of my worries, I was worried about the chlorine and whatever else is found in tap water. I'm sorry that a grower of your caliber got offended by my question. Instead off replying with your useless post you could have added something beneficial to thread . Thanks anyway

It will not probably kill his plant you are right, but if he is striving to make the best grow possible clap tap water will hinder the results.

If you do not believe me then grow one side by side with distilled+nutes and a tap+nutes. You will see. If you use nothing but tap in your grow, you can't tell....

Plants ... ALL plants are geared on an evolutionary scale for RAIN water. Tap is a far far cry from that.
