KaliKitsune: Im assuming with a TV tuner Id have to link the cam with wires, the web cam must be wireless.
Madhadda: Thank for the link I like that cam very much but Im concerned if the HPS's intensity will cause the flickering images. Did you get the quote "Boom!" from Ari Gold?
GrowTech: Thanks for links Ill read through it.
There are many web cam on the net all claiming to be THE ONE. I just need to make sure the image is crystal clear & that there is absolutely NO flickering/wavy lines on the video stream, I cant even ring up the support team to ask "Does this web cam react well when exposed to a bright HPS light?" You know wat I mean. What factors or features should I pay attention to so that I can be certain that the vivd/bright HPS wont affect the cam?
No, the X10 camera is not wired, except for the need for a power outlet to plug into. It transmits on 2.4 GHZ and it works just fine viewing HPS lights, T5HO Fluorescents, Metal Halide, etc. these are security cameras.
It's easy. Get one X10 camera and receiver. Go find yourself an old cheap USB TV Tuner, like the Sabran TV-USB20. Plug receiver into TV-USB20, plug TV-USB20 into computer. Go plug the camera in your grow room, and point the antenna back towards where the receiver is located.
From there, there's software on the net that will let you monitor that as a webcam source, or you can create a virtual private network tunnel that is accessible from anywhere and directly access the PC, and turn the cam on when you want it turned on.
You've already got the computer. The tuner I mention is like 30 bucks on pricewatch.com and the X10 camera you can find off ebay for 20 or so with receiver.
Or you can just drop $100 and get the entire X11 setup:

All kinds of easy and cheap ways to do stuff.
I know the X10 cameras work under HPS. I used to use one for monitoring my old Memphis grow.
Considering most security cams monitor places that use HPS/MH/MV lighting, yea, these won't give ya flicker.
