Do you know uptight people?

I don't really care what anyone else thinks about this (or anything else for that matter.) I'm not a dad ... yet, it is planned to be about 11 - 12 months off before I am one.

I personally think the commercial is funny. When I have a tot in my arms I will be sitting there watching TV with them EXPLAINING it to them instead of letting their friends or teachers do it.

I am more interested in educating my child than censoring them from everything in the world. I see a lot of 'sheltered' kids and they are either hellions or utterly oblivious to everything around them and I want neither of those for my kids. If I think it's inappropriate for them then I will either prevent them from seeing it or I will explain to them WHY it's inappropriate. I'm not going to waste my time blaming burger king, hollywood, television or the president because they're not taking responsibility for my child. I'll take responsibility and do what a parent should do, not try and pawn it off on corporations, governments, schools, or other people.

Damn I hate this countries mentality.

If I had Kids I wouldn't let them eat fast food in the first place, problem solved on that issue...

I have found that un-sexy people get upset when sexy people do their thing. I find nothing offensive here, just a girl eating a burger and other girls with fake square butts. It's funny if nothing else.

Well my two cents is this.I'm a parent. If I don't want my kids to watch something, they don't.However, if they do see something explicit,I merely explain to them what's up with it, in a frank and honest manner. I tell my kids not to believe everything they see on TV,and not to fall for advertising schemes aimed at them, in other words, be skeptical. The burger king ad doesn't even register on my radar as inappropriate. It's funny. It's referring to spongebob square pants. I don't personally see the big deal.
Quite frankly, many kids cartoons and programs have sexual innuendo in them;it's for the poor parent who has to sit there with the kid through the program. Nobody ever saw the vibrator on Prince Charming's dressing table in Shrek the third? Nor heard the conversation between donkey and dragon as she's "playing with his tail" in the first movie?
You can't shield them from everything. They need to know how the world works. They need to see some of the bad shit on the news, to know that there are not always going to be loving, supportive situations, and how to deal with them. They need to know sex is a normal part of adult life, and some of the jokes are there for the parents;they'll get them when they get bigger. They need to know that the shit they see in movies and non reality based programming is not real and is for entertainment only. Toughen them up a bit. Answer their questions honestly.Tell them about sex at an early age, and good touching, and bad touching. Elaborate more when they get older.
The burger king commercial, I saw that watching survivor this week.My 11 year old saw it too.She thought it was funny. Her immediate thought wasn't about sex,and she's pretty well informed on what happens.Seriously, you can't blame anyone or anything else for influencing your kid if you do what you're supposed to do and TEACH them.:peace:
