Excellent thread, man, plenty of pics and a good read. +Reps! I love your rubbermaid carbon filter! And your method of hanging the CFLs on a clamped power strip is genius. Did I read correctly that your plants don't smell too bad? Is that because of the filter or because of the strain?

Thanks man.:joint:

It must be because of the strain because I haven't had to bother with the filter. I changed from the smaller 80mm fan in the first pics to a 120mm fan (much less noise) but didn't bother attaching the "filter" again. I literally have to hold the plant to my nose and to smell them.

Lucky! Do you think "sugar blossom" would be a good strain for perpetual SOG?
Honestly dude I have no clue.....haha....I still haven't finished my first grow haha. I do like my plants though. I was planning on changing genetics for my next grow but I like the way my girls have turned out thus far. I will using the 6 seeds I have left for my next two grows (may try to get go mother/clone if I get a new cabinet). The plants look sugar coated like the White Widow, but have a slight citrus/skunk smell.

Here is the description from Hemp Depot:

Sugar Blossom F2

These are second generation seeds made from F1 original brother's Grimm stock. Sugar blossoms is an improvement on white widow. The brother's Grimm's legendary skill is put on display in this masterpiece. Here is what the catalogue says about Sugar Blossoms: Smokers of White Widow almost universally comment that they wish it tasted better. The Bros Grimm set out to solve this problem by creating Sugar Blossoms, a skunky, lemon-flavoured White Widow hybrid. Expect hardy, vigorous plants with an Indica-dominant growth profile. Short & branchy, Sugar Blossoms is a high yielding, fast flowering, resinous plant that produces dense, sugar-coated buds that has a great taste and a light lemon smell. This plant, like most Brothers Grimm offerings, is easy to work with, trims up very easily, and has a beautifully balanced high.

Indoor flowering 8 to 9 weeks.

I think I am going to leave plants for another 5 or 6 days. It is getting really tough to wait, but I think that should do it.

Plant D (Single Cola) is looking like 10 % amber right now (really depends on where I look though), and C is now pretty much cloudy. Water for the last time this evening. I think my water must have a magnesiuem deficiency after checking out some pics in plant problems. they haven't had nutes in a while so that must be whats doing it. Probably doesn't matter at this point anyways

Anyway its gonna be a tough 6 days waiting.

DAY 77 FROM 12/12

36 hours ago I checked the trichs and D was 50/50 amber to cloudy and C was 90% cloudy. I was leaving for 12 days on Friday, so when the lights went off Wednesday morning, I unplugged them.

So after 36 hours of darkness.....drum roll please......

HARVEST TIME

Here are C and D with the lower leaves cut off

Here are with the fan leaves cut:

Finished Trimming (D's cola in top left)

Here is D's Cola

Some of C's bigger colas

Close up of C

From the top of the rubbermaid

I have all the colas now hanging vertically from the metal grid in my rubbermaid container. They will have 12 days of drying before I get back and start curing.

What do you guys think the yield will be???

Thanks man, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I just got a big tax refund that I will use to build a new grow cabinet, maybe 150w or 250w HPS with cfl veg area.

I'm glad I'm not home while its drying, it'd be tough to leave it alone.

After 11 days drying I just back home to find my buds looking good. I put them in mason jars last night and have opened them a few times. Kind of a fresh hay type smell at the moment. Hopefully that will disappear over the next few weeks.

I didn't have a scale to weigh them so I decided to improvise. I took two pots, one very large and one medium. I also took a small stainless steel bowl with a flat bottom. In the sink I filled the medium pot up to the very very top with water and then put the bowl in the pot to float. This displaced some of the water into the sink. I then carefully picked up the pot with the bowl and placed it in the larger pot.

Now I took all my buds and placed them in the floating bowl. This caused water to flow into the larger pot by being displaced by the bowl.

Now I took the medium pot and bowl out, and let any water drip from the bottom into the larger pot.

Via archimedes principle (ignoring surface tension) the weight of the volume of water displaced by an object is equal to that objects weight, hence the water sitting in the larger pot equals the weight of my buds!!! Using a small measuring spoon I measured out 35 milliliters of water. At room temp 1 ml of water is equal to 1 g so I have about 35 grams, plus or minus I'd say 10%. Not the most accurate but it gives me a pretty close estimate.

I just rolled a joint :joint: and will be testing that out later tonight.

Here are a few final pics of the buds after curing for 2 weeks to end this journal.

The jar on the right is from Plant D, and the two jars on the left are C:

This one includes my little jar that I keep for smoking purposes:

Here is the little jar, with my homemade pipe:

Another of my pipe. I was bored a few summer ago, so I went to the woods and cut down a small tree to make this. The "bowl" section was the trunk and the "pipe" was a branch. Lots of cutting, drilling and sanding produced this. Took some work to get it ready for use (ie making sure it didn't burn/produce wood smoke)

Here are a few of D's cola, my cat loves to smell the bud.... probably would eat it if I let her:

And finally......I figured I should get some use out the investment I put into the rubbermaid and cfls before I upgraded, so.....Here is the first pic of my two new seedlings!!!! They broke through the ground today while I was at work...nice surprise when I got home.
