since this crop is approaching harvest, i've begun my next generation. stuck seeds in rapid rooters on saturday at like 5AM and today when i looked at them they were already poppin!! these seeds are feminized so hopefully i don't have many females, but i planted eight to try to ensure that i will get 6 females.

i also picked up two new clones. they're supposed to be OG kush. they were pretty freakin expensive but look quite healthy. already preemptively beginning neem oil treatment because last time i picked up clones at this place they may have had pests.

Pictures: Close up of bud from the tent, master kush seeds i got from the dispensary, pictures of my under sink rapid rooters and eight seedlings, and the two OG kush clones.

mrcryce, you have a great setup and some beautiful plants. As a fellow DR120 user, I have a couple of questions that could
help me alot. I currently only have a 400w HPS with a Super Sun II reflector in my tent, because that's all I had before
I bought the tent. I'm looking to upgrade, and here's what I'm wondering:

How high do you keep your reflector from the tops of the plants?

Does the 600w give you good light coverage over the whole canopy?
(does it cover the tent from wall to wall or does it fall short)

Once I upgrade I hope I can have buds as nice as yours! I have mostly the same equip, just a smaller light.
Thanks in advance for helping me out with these questions. Peace and good growing!

I try to keep bottom of my reflector hood about 12 inches from the top of the plants. Since this is my first grow I didn't really know how much to expect the plants to grow while they flowered so I actually had some issues where I had to tie down a plant that started to grow into the light. Currently the light hangs at about 4 1/2 feet off the ground (from the bottom of the reflector hood to the ground) The coverage does look pretty good but since the walls are so reflective its kind of hard to tell where the shadow line is. I would say 600w is definitely adequate for what I want to do. If it was cooler here I would even want to try to run a 1000w in my tent, but I don't think that is possible where I live.

Since you have the same reflector as me, I'm pretty sure the coverage you get will about the same, but what will be different is the intensity of the light reaching the plants. (and thus light penetration as well). I'm thinking of building a PVC scrog screen about 3 feet high actually, we'll see if it works out...

If you've got more questions just lemme know~

Thanks, that helped alot actually. I was considering a 1000w too, which is why I asked about your 600w. I just don't know what to expect
in terms of heat from the 1000w, so I'll probably go with a 600w. I'm also concerned about the height of the plants. Most indicas shouldn't be
a problem as long as they stay around 2-3ft, but anything with a good amount of sativa genes might stretch alot. In that case I was thinking
maybe topping and supercropping might help, otherwise we would run out of room and you can only lift the light so far...

Do you think it would be a problem getting about 9 plants under there and still getting adequate light to all of them?

Thanks again.

Yes I want to upgrade to 1000w, but have no idea what to expect in terms of heat either. Also, I don't believe my yields will be much greater with a 1000w, if anything it may even be worse because I am pretty negligent when it comes to controlling the temperatures sometimes.

Depending on how you train the plants I think you will be able to fit 9 plants. Originally I had six, but I noobed it up and killed two leaving me with only four. I further noobed it up when I did not know about stretching, so my plants are also much stretchier than they will be next time. For my next grow I doubt height will be an issue.

As far as being able to fit nine plants, I *think* you should be able to do it. Right now my four plants have way more space than they need, its kind of a shame really. I also moved in my 3 (rather small) scrogged plants which were vegged under a CFL. In the future I plan on making this tent a perpetual flowering chamber, while I move ~1-2 month old clones in six at a time. I'm hoping I will be able to support six plants on each side of the tent (because the two groups of 6 plants will have 1-2 months between them), and if not I will probably think of upgrading to a 1000w.

Basically, as far as space goes in these great tents, with careful planning I think we can fit plenty of plants. My most ideal setup is a huge scrog that covers the entire 4'x4' area! I don't know how I would be able to work on the plants with such a setup though, so I am tossing around the idea of just having two smaller scrogs - one for each of my six flowering plants.

I have read that with lights like ours we should strive to keep them 8-12 inches from the top of the plants. When I finish flowering these plants I will try to find out what the optimal maximum height for the reflector hood so that the entire 4'x4' square gets light coverage, but still remains 8 inches from the canopy.

I've been mulling over this alot lately. If I get a 1000w, I could end up with heat/hight issues. You can only rasie the
light so high before you run out of room. If I get a 600w, it's sure to be better than my 400w, but then I'd always
wonder how much better the 1000w would be.

Why not just buy an extra 600w to stick beside your other one, instead of buying a 1000? You would get perfect coverage,
the heat would be no worse than a 1000 I would say, and you don't have to throw your other 600w in the closet to gather dust.

Another thing I was considering was just buying a new reflector, the Cool Sun. It's about 24" wide instead of 13" with the Super
Sun II. That might give better coverage. Stick a 1000w in there and you would be golden. I'm just trying to be cheap and not pay for
another reflector. : /

Keep me posted on whatever you find out. Since we have similar setups we should be able to help each other out.
