California??? Did what???

Did the residents of CA actually vote for EXACTLY what quite a few of us have been espousing on these forums? Did someone spill a little common sense into the water supply? Or do the residents know that Obama will force the rest of us to pay for their stupidity. I can say that as I'm a Californian, born and bred. Riverside hospital...grew up in Buena Vista and Orange county.

So now that AWWWnald's threats to let all the prisoners go and lay off all the cops and firemen didn't work, he's switching to letting all the wee children have no healthcare and cutting education and laying off vast quantities of state employees. How about you cut the BILLIONS and BILLIONS of dollars going to rediculous programs and organizations FIRST...then after that you slash the INSANE pensions and wages going to your gov'ment employees. If that doesn't balance your budget, which those alone probably would, maybe you could start taking advantage of your own natural resources...like the oil you have...you know, the energy you are sitting on that by itself could solve your fiscal problems.

But NO, we can't do any of that...we have to take the healthcare away from the children...yeah that's what we need to do.

They may hear ya California...but they ain't listening

Wow, that article was complete load of horsesh*t. I guess you can't really expect any better from the World Socialist Web Site. My favorite quote was from the LA Times...“California voters exercise their power—and that’s the problem.” Yeah those pesky voters with their free will and right to decide how the government operates...I know...let's run to the courts and get some liberal judge to overturn the will of the people...I mean cmon...they don't agree with the radical liberals running the joint...they must be stupid or watching <blech> FOX NEWS <dry heave>

OR

They might like to see a few businesses RETURN to the state. They might like to keep the money they've earned rather than support those who haven't...what a novel idea...you can actually spend the money you've earned how YOU decide to. Weird.

I think it is cool that the voters in California have stepped up to their own responsibilities and sent the government the message that despite the horrible consequences, death on your feet is better than life on your knees. They should make sure that they have a strong militia. Hell, the worlds 5th to 8th largest economy should be able to afford an army of Mexicans to make a line on Cali's Eastern and Northern borders. Then Cali could begin its own economy backed by pot. I'm not even being callous about the Mexican thing, either. The US has sent so much money to the Mexican Government to fight the war on drugs, and the cartels are so well armed and willing to kill, that it has ravaged the Mexican people, along with a good share of Americans. Armies are money. Any people should be happy to get a chunk of profit off of arming a fledgling nation. A little bit fantasy, but a lot a bit real. I sound like a terrorist, it occurs to me that this is the way I would play it if it were a video game or something. I don't want to send the idea that I have a cold heart or anything, but the fact is, peaceful revolution is not nearly loud enough for most people to hear. I hope the People in California have a plan. Besides turning up their surround sound to drown out the sound of their infrastructure's collapse.

wait until all the medical and welfare programs are cut. i think 50% of california eagerly awaits the 1st and the 15th of every month. once they get cut off, then what. mad exodus to the south?

I think that is part of the anarchy that occurs when there is a shift in power. If the People have decided to take that step and cut all these vital programs, they should have a plan as to what they are going to do about the fallout. Exodus to the South? Lol, I think more like this is what they meant when they said California was going to fall into the sea.

california has long been the leader in the great socialist revolution here in the u.s. only prop 13 has kept us from being the most highly taxed state in the union and yet the deficit still grows. the mountains of red tape generated by an ever growing bureaucracy and the do-nothing social programs that have buried us here are a foreshadowing of what awaits the rest of the country should the spendthrift powers of the liberal establishment truly take hold of government.

even the idiotic liberal elitists of this state are beginning to wake up to the fact that government seems to double in size every few years and we get nothing from that mess of slobbering bureaucrats but special interest pork and a government payroll that finances the extravagances of ivory tower demagogues. californians have seen first hand what lies down the road to the welfare state and, ahead of the curve as usual, are crying "enough is enough".

the question remains; are they willing to give up some of the far fetched dreams and promises of their liberal masters in order to regain the equilibrium they have lost? are they willing to admit that we cannot hold the productive responsible for raising the standard of living for every last failure and welfare fraud and still attract the wealth necessary for even the most rudimentary of services? the unwashed masses want it all. they want low taxes and all the free stuff that the government hucksters have promised them. well, you just can't have it all. they have chosen to start limiting the increasingly ridiculous demands for cash of their irresponsible representatives. are they now prepared to sacrifice the welfare state illusions and demand some responsibility and rationality from their elected officials or will they just keep on insisting on all those goodies and force government to find some other way to cheat us all out of our liberties and what little wealth we may be able to hold on to?

Undertheice, your just greedy!
If all the rich people would just own up
to their responcibility for sociaty.
None of this would be happening.
California needs to raise its taxes preferably on Buisness
And then on those rich hollywood types.
They need to be MADE to pay for the less fortunate in their state.
Over a million children depend on state aid for medical care.
Would you denigh them care, your a monster!

undertheice, that is put as plainly and simply as common sense should need to see it for the truth. Honest and correct.

ilkhan...that's probably as dumb a paragraph as I have read anywhere...EVER. Unfortunately, you are part of the problem...Fortunately, there seems to be an awakening of common sense in the populace that recognizes you for the economically suicidal loon you are. You seem to have good intentions, and I can't fault you for that, but you have to understand you can't take down the entire ship in an effort to save EVERYONE. You can't keep spending like a millionaire when you are flat broke...I'm sorry it just can't work that way.

An accusation of greed. LOL! The last refuge of the intellectually bankrupt, histrionic Progressive.

If acting in one's own self-interest is greedy, perhaps we should all be a little more greedy.
If all the rich people would just own up
to their responcibility for sociaty.
None of this would be happening.

Mantain the punitive taxation policy and see what happens. Medman is right. Businesses as well as the affluent are voting with their feet and getting the hell out of California.

Their parents denied them proper care when they decided to forgo birth control assuming the government/nanny state would take care of their needs. Seems pretty monstrous to me.

Undertheice, you're just greedy.....
..... you're a monster!
a monster? quite possibly, but that's another matter completely. greedy? if by that you mean that i feel i should decide what happens to the fruits of my labors, then i suppose i am. it's time y'all got off of your high horse and realized the true nature of the bloated bureaucracy you advocate. you have no right to the moral high ground.

despite your accusations, i'm just a blue collar slob trying to make it through the day and live a righteous life. i give fair value to my customers for the fees i charge, i treat those around me honestly and charitably and i give what i can of my time and money to organizations i see as worthwhile and of service to the community. these are my sins and i won't deny them. i don't expect any reciprocity, though it would be nice, and i don't expect a pat on the back for doing what is right. like millions of americans, i do expect to be allowed to do what i see as right and it seems that quite a few are beginning to understand that the formalized corruption of big government is nothing more than a hindrance to the ethical behavior it demands of its subjects.

the libelous fantasy of the evil rich is beginning to wear a bit thin. they are already responsible for the lion's share of the monies these bureaucratic dilettantes feel they need and the greedy masses are always demanding more. with war cries of "it's all for the children" and "you already have more than you need", the avaricious mob uses the strength of government to steal from the haves whatever the have nots desire and that need knows no end. at some point we have to realize that poverty cannot be eradicated at gunpoint.

the real evil here exists within a government that uses the very real needs of the poor and disenfranchised to line its own pockets and increase its power over the people. overly lucrative union contracts, special interest pressures and well intentioned but ill conceived social programs have created this monster of a massive and unyielding bureaucracy that has wasted the wealth of california and is forcing those with the ability to flee and take their wealth with them. the corruption of representatives whose driving force is reelection has squandered our resources on pleasing the lobbyists and appeasing the mob that feels entitled to all the best of what they see around them.
