Well Im getting a little nervous about "Small Fry". She isnt growing like "Slow Poke". Im going to raise her up to the light more.

Cab: 78 degrees; 45% humidity

Small Fry: 80 degrees; 54% humidity
Slow Poke: 88 degrees; 48% humidity

After I post the pics, How much longer do you think I should wait to start nutes and LST?

Thanks

When you first place the seed in the soil you really only need a good warm temp & moist soil until it has broken the surface of the dirt. So before your seedling has pushed its way up & out of the dirt Lighting is not needed at all. after it has broken the surface 24/0 or 18/6 until flowering time.

Is this what you meant?

You can probably safely start using nutes now, just be carefull not to give them too much to start.

Personally I would start off with a low % of nutes and slowly increase it until you get signs of minor nute burn, then dial it back a bit. This can take weeks to do though. But once you find your plants nute sweet spot you are golden :) Occasionally you have to dial way back so that you can flush the accumulating nutes out of your soil but this usually only takes a few waterings with no nutes to reduce enough to go another few weeks with full nutes again.

when to start LST is more of a personal preference :) so whenever you feel that your plant can handle it or you are ready go for it :) seeming how your plant is still pretty small you may have to wait or do small bends until you get it where you want it. Whenever I have LST'd i always liked to top my plant on its 3rd node. this produces 4 lower branches that can be LST'd out in a + pattern. But again thats how i liked to do it. :p

I started 18/6. I didnt just drop my seeds in the soil. I stated with rock wool cube. They were saturated and then put under the lights to warm up. I stuck the seed in the hole and the grew. I was thinking about doing the whole paper towel thing but didnt want to touch the seedling. Im pretty much doing exact what it says day by day in the "Buds for less book" I dont know what soil you are using. If MG dont use anything else. Im no on 24/7 Sometimes i shut the lights off for a few hours just so it can cool down in the box.

What is a + pattern? Did you pin down the leaves to? Do you think I should up the humidity a little?

Thanks

if you chop the top @ the 3rd node you will end up with 4 branches, each of these 4 branches are on a different side of the main stem (so you would have a north, south, east, west branch) when those 4 branches are trained down it makes a + pattern. (of course eventually because you chopped the top shoot at the 3rd node thats 6 branches but i take off the first nodes branches and bury my stalk to that level).

The leaves I always tuck down into the plant or if possible push them under a lower branch so there out of all the new growths way :p As for the humidity, um uh um. I just go by feel of the room & growth lol. I know its dangerous but thats the way I have always dealt with humidity. lol. So i cannot even give an educated guess on what it should be at.

Your plants look pretty damn good @ day 17, It looks to me like your heat/humidity is all in check.

So i will definitaly let someone else that has more exp with testing & guaging the humidity tell you that one :p

I need a picture to see what you talking about. Im a visual learner, lol.

I think Im going to raise the humidity. Its now 33% in there and its been raining all day and the windows are open. Might just stick a cup of water in there.
Im also going to raise the smaller plant so its closer to the lights. I noticed that The level of the dirt is lower in that pot then the other. I think it will make me feel better. Im going to water the plats tomorrow the same way I did the other day(2 quarts each). Not as much as the book says. Ill wait untill the next time to give 3.5 quarts. So here are the specifics:
Small Fry: 80 degrees; 40% RH
Slow Poke: 88 degrees; 33% RH
Cab temp: 78 degrees
So here they are and here is the book...

I was also thinking about building one of those Hydro tubs out of one of those storage bins. Anyone have directions on how to make one?

Thanks for stopping by....

hi. I used at first about 7.5 thousand lumens cfl and had the light about six inches from the newly germinated seeds. Rarely did I have it a foot away and then only after I upped the game with 34 k in lumens cfl high output (and yeah big difference...) I fed every other watering with composted fish flushed heavey about every six or seven waterings.
How is your waters ph? Get a cheap kit for about five to ten bucks and correct as needed.
My ww's took a decent amount of stress all fem. seeds from the NL and no hermies. If your interested here is the link good luck!

I have about 18400 lumans right now. This is according to the packages of the which the bulbs came in. I found 6500k 42 watt cfl's on 1000bulbs.com. I think the mix of 27k and 65k is working good. Ill post a picture of back up lighting that will be using later in this grow(veg only). These lights are actually the lights that germinated my plants
Im going to water again tomorrow, with the root juice that I have (pic in previous post). I was taking PH readings with GH test kit that I bought that has ph up and down (pics previous). The test revealed that my water was high in PH(7.5 to 8). Its city and not well water. After adding the Root Chew (LOL), the PH came down to like 7.5-7.0. I added a few drops of the PH down in the 2 quart container and dropped to 6.0-6.5. I was on the lower end of that both times I mixed it. I read from the FF website that the PH of the OF soil is relatively neutral. Ive also read that here and on a few other gardening sites. Im not going to test the PH of the water coming out of the plants right now. If I have problems later on I will.
Ironhide (I know your real name..lol, Im a transformers freek, a mid 30 year old one too..haha) I saw your little grow. You people that can grow outside really make me jealous. Nice plants man.
Ive made up my mind that Im going to start LSTing Slow Poke next weekend. I might top it also. I have to read about the advantages and disadvantages of doing both of these to my new children. I might actually leave Small Fry alone completely just to see what happens. Slow Poke looks stronger at the moment so Ill start with her...

These will put out another 4550 lumens a peice. I have two of them ready to be plugged in. The great thing about these is they only run at .8amp.

Thanks for stopping by....

Ive been away for 2 days. Missed the pics from yesterday but they are getting bigger fast.

Im going to start topping or fimming them soon. I dont know which. I have to look it up on how to do this. I will be starting LSTing also. Added a cup of water for humidity. Im going to rearrange the fans. Lastly I put Small Fry on a book so she is closer to the lights. I think im going to start playing music ranging from Bob Marley to Sublime. It might make them happier. It would make me happy. They Look bored
I watered them both today with 3 quarts of 6.0 PH water.

Box Temp: 74-81

Slow poke: 88 degrees; 55% Humidity
Small fry: 87 degrees; 55% Humidity

Pics- First 2 are slow poke (bushy now). Second 2 are Small Fry, still smaller than Slow Poke..

Thanks for stopping bye

Maybe its just me but I noticed that the leaves are a little lighter green then they have been. Noticed more after they were watered with 3 quarts of 6.0 PHed water. I also added some of the Root Juice. Anyone have any ideas? Also when can I start adding nutes, start fimming/topping, and start LST?

Thanks for stopping by....

definatly can start with your veg nuts now(ween them onto them 1/4 then 2 waters later 1/2 then 2 waters later 1/2 str then full strength after 2 more waters, this is what i was told to do at first true node)
....most people start topping at the 2nd true node from what i researched

I have no experience with topping though so i dunno , keep it up Beasy

Noticing smaller yellow spots on the saraded edges of the leaves. Before it get out of wack can someone help me with this? I dont have a nacro camera so I really cant get a good pic.

No nutes yet besides the ROOT JUICE. Im wondering if I should have my water check for minerals. The PH is 6.0. Im not going to water them for like 3-4 days so I want to be prepared for it. Should I use distilled water? Think the mineral content is too high in city water? Do you think I should dechlorinate tap water before waterting?

Im going to try to get pictures up
Oh, by the way Im using FFOF, Root Juice and thats it. Temps inside the box are 80.
Temp between the light and the top of the plans are hovering around 85.

Thanks for the help...

you could let your water sit out for 24 hrs. i hear that helps get rid of clorine, but i belive 6 is good? and those plants in the pics look great i wouldnt worry just yet, keep it up:leaf:
