Where do I signwhat's with all the CFL's? is this pot growing for kids or what? wouldn't you like to be a real pot farmer? just wondering.

cfls are just so easy they make up for the lack of lumens they have sure everyones wants big HID systems and get crazy yields but so much more work is involved and how do you justify the amount of power your using?

lumens are just math. this many lumens in CFL is not necessarily = to the same with HPS. it's a whole different spectrum.
i paid a couple 100 bucks for my HPS. first harvest yielded $3200 worth of grade A.
small lights = small buds. if that's your goal, fine.
low heat my ass. CFL's have built in ballasts. you have to cool the light. you can't put the ballast in a different area. i keep my 600w at 70 degrees with a simple hood and exhaust fan and putting my ballast outside the room.
you can get an HPS anywhere. if you pick up a phone book or do a google search.
keep 'em coming. i love this.

why would i want to? i can keep it 18 inches from my plant. i don't have to worry about having it inches away. think about it. once again my temps are mid 70's at the top of the plants.

I use Cfls just for vegging.. then they go under Hps.. Id have to say the Hps wins b/c its just so much light. And if i wasnt worried about running my big light all the time, id switch my ballast over to mh for vegging, i just dont like running it at night.

I hate to say it, but you just might have to find a bigger place to grow. I mean most plants get bigger than 18 inches... I had one that was mostly indica that got 6ft tall.. just a fluke i suppose..

No, I meant keeping the light 18inches from the top of the plant plus, length of jack chain. How close to the leaves can you get the light?

i keep my lights about 10 inches away from the top of my plants.. i have an aircooled light too though..
