New to growing and to this forum

the brown spots seam to be in the middle of the leaves, their not really on the tips... what could this mean? i still havent done anything to measure my ph. im gonna go to the hydro shop this weekend and get a ph up n down kit for my water and one of those sticks to read the soils ph. Also, what us flushing? n how is it done? im sure it means to flush all the nuts from ur plants but how is that done? thanks for helpin da newbie=)

While at the hydro store is you have enough money you should also get a ph/ ppm meter for hydro... you use that to measure the ph/ ppm of the water mix before you dump it in the soil... you also can measure the run off water with this to make sure your soil isn't hot.

Flushing is done at the end (like the last week or 2 weeks) for the most part. You give the plants only wather... or only wather and molasses. The point is so the plants aren't stuffed with nutrients when you chop them. In only giving them water you force them to use the nutrients stored in the plant to keep living (or trying to live). This also tells them the end is near and to give any enerty they have left to pushing out seeds (or where the seeds would be... ie buds).

You also flush when you've over nuted the plants. If they are showing signs of nute burn you would want to pour a whole bunch of water through the soil to flush out the nutrients to try again with a smaller amount.

I don't do soil but have read that when you do start nutrients you should give them every other feeding. So when they need watered give them nutrients... next time water... next nutes....water.... on and off like that.

The ph pen for the soil is good, but definitely the hydro pen would help too.

Talk to the guy at the hydro store about it, he may have good info. If you are short on funds you can get the ph strips for the water too.

that info is gonna help me one day lol. i think ill prolly end up gettin the ph test strips with the up and down cuz i know the pens can get kinda pricey, but we'll see! i wanna get the ph test pen for the soil 2 so if the soil's ph is to high i can bring it down wit low ph'ed water?

i been doin more research on here n as we know the more lights the better n as i seen on other grows, i added splitters to my light sockets so now my babys are under 8 cfl's total. 6x100w 5500k and 2x150w 2700k i couldent find 6500k's at home depot but i hope is not that big of a deal. i also got a timer witch i think is my new best friend, and was able to take my plants off 24h and put them into 18/6 to vegetate. i wanted to keep the aerogarden on 24h cuz im germinating in it still but i only got one closet lol. but the 18/6 should be ok to start off 2 right?

More light is better.

I don't really know what you are asking at the end. I thnk you should have the aerogarden on all the time, but again I have never done seeds, so I'm not sure.

Does that aerogarden come with a 1/5 min timer or something to spray... it's aeroponics right? or am I confused on what the aerogarden is?

well that dont matter anymore cuz i took the AG out the grow room at juss sat it on 24h in my kitchen until i can put the seedlings to vegetate under 18/6. i have pics on my profile if u wanna check the out. i juss updated my grow room again today and i added mylar around it and now is set to juss be left alone and pamper my babys. i also got my white widow seeds and stuck 2 od them in the AG. im gonna get some fox farm soil n grow one in soil 2. i guess the theisis of my project is: what is the best method to grow marijane in your closet, soil or hydro? lol. my babys goin in soil are about 3 weeks old in Mg soil and today im givin them their first feed of fox farm nutes in a very low dose. wish me luck!! ill put up new pics later tonite after i feed them...

hi im new to this site, im also new to this whole thing of growing. but thanks to you guys i think i picked up enough to start my set up and i have. i have 2 babys goin in my closet. i didnt germinate i just put them in miracle grow in my patio not even taking them seriously and a few days later that had sprouted and i have fallen in love with them since lol. After the seedlings for a little bigger i moved them inside under cfls. i had them under 2 smaller ones that pushed an equal of 60w's each but now i changed the bulbs to the bigger ones that put out 100w's and i have 3 on them now. i think i have done a great job so far but this is as far as i know. i know now i should start giving it nutrients for the vegetative state, can anyone tell me a good brand name? i could use any suggestions and will appreciate experienced help. i will post pictures soon.

so i juss walked inn to chek on my girl and the site seamed disturbed at plain sight because one of the side reflector/wall i made had falled down. so i picked it up thinkin the fan had noked it over and at the same time tellin my 4 month old bull terrier "genious" pup to get the helll out the room. Then as i got to water my plants i relized the one labeled in my pics "the good child" had most of its leaves chewed off by that so called genious dog!!! the stalk is still standin strong and it still has some vegetation, does anyone know the chances of it surviveing? i hope she dont die =(

wow man. rough. There is hope. First lesson... keep the dog away from the plants, haha. The thing could pull trough, don't give up hope bro. It may be lost cause, but think if your doggy ate a 10 week old plant. that would really suck.

her name is Daisy and she is a really smart n cool dog but dam stuburn n a lil hyper at times, even tho a lil smoke calms her down really nice and puts her inn a lovin mood and she seems to like it quite a bit since she runs inn the room as soon as its sparked and she'll go toke to toke wit u lol ( she is layin on top of me right now cuz im layin on the floor lol). But im thinkin the plant should pull through, i woke up this mornin and it dosent seam to be dieing. Also last nite i paniked a bit as i thought i mighta over nuted the. but this mornin after dark time they looked better and not as droupy. im juss kinda confused on how much i should use. i usually juss give each plant a cup of water and i dunno how much i should use per cup? last nite i juss added a half of tsp to each cup n i dunno if i should use less. One question noone answered was one i made a few post ago: how much difference is there between usin 5500k n 6500k? i hadent been able to find 6500k until friday and at this point i have spent so much on fkn light blubs i juss wanted to know how much difference there was n what i should expect. even tho i will be switchin to 6500k soon juss to do it right.

5500k vs 6500k not that big a think. If you grew two right next to each other using the different lights, you probably couldn't tell the difference. Don't stress it.

And I think mabe less nutrients than 1/2 Tsp per cup. I would think 1/2 Tsp per Liter. Underdoing it is better than overdoing it. That is true for most things in growing. Not enough and they just suffer a bit, but too much and they might get messed up, ruin your buds or something.

ok so my babys survived their first nute feedin. i think i over did it a bit like i said last time but seem to be ok and growin. that was last saturday, can anyone tell me if i should feed them again this saturday? i plan on doin it right this time, im gonna fill a whole gallon of water and put juss a half a tsp in the gallon and split the gallon between the 2 girls. Also my AG is startin to give birth!! lol, one of the WW babys is 2 days old and the bio dome has came off. The other WW is still on its way, its got a lil stim comin out but it sems like the seed hasent fully cracked and its startin to push it out. Two of the bag seeds i planted have also started to come to life.

I have gotten to a point in my grow where ive began to wonder if i should top my plants, they are about 3 weeks to a month old and have started to show 5 leaf sets. I just wanna know how to do it right cuz from what i heard i think im definitely gonna do it.
Can anyone tell me exactly how? im kinda scared lol. I know i have to cut the top of the plant but how?

About feeding, I think that sounds right to feed again in a week. Pretty sure soil guys water with nutes every other watering, and I think they water every 3-4 days.

As for topping you can't really do it wrong. Just cut some of the main stem off. Here's a thread: https://www.rollitup.org/general-marijuana-growing/13820-fimming-topping-101-a.html

There's no right way to do it if you ask me... you just cut. Use a clean blade. Cut anywhere. If you cut closer to a leaf set you will have less of a nub sticking out... that's about it. Don't worry about it.

However... some strains don't like being topped. I don't know which ones but I've heard that, so if you know your strain you might want to research that a bit. But even so, if you top one that doesn't like it... it won't die or something, maybe just stunt it's growth for a long time, or have a smaller yeild, but not by 50% or anything... just a little smaller.

yea i have been watering my plants every 3 days and sprayin them everyday and in between those 3 days i spray the soil 2 to moisten it up... i think i maybe be over watering them a bit i dunno. i know that after i fed them last weekend they have looked as perked up actually maybe a lil droopy witch has been gettin better with time. Also i was wondering if it be ok to add more soil to my pots, it juss seems to look a little low and the stems i think could be covered a bit to give it more space for roots? juss somthing i thought may help...

Remember i told you that the AG was startin to give birth? one of them is lookin good but the other scared the shit out of me last nite because it finally showed her head but it looked wierd like if it still had the seed on top of it. this mornin it looked a lil better, the one green grow that it had under its "helmet" is began to split and i think it will end up opening up and gettin rid off the shell by herself. But one thing that worries me is this: it seems like the baby steam is like wrapped up around the lil grow sponge. im postin a pic off my phone so u can see (even tho the resolution aint very good) tell me what all ya think n if anyone has seen this before and what could be my outcomes...

alright so last nite i moved my AG to my closet and put it under 18/6 with my older gurls. the AG babys are still growing seedlings so i hope the 18/6 wont retard them to much. but i juss had to get the AG out of my kitchen lol. i hope to soon make another grow area so i can have both a veg room and a flowring room as i think im only gonna veg my soil gurls for the end of this and another week and that should put them right in between 4-6 weeks and will go under 12/12 then for another 8 im guessin, hope it dont take longer than that.
ill post some pics of them soon even if its with my shitty camera phone, they have gotten big and are lookin nice and bushie after i topped one and fimed the other one. the one i fimed is prolly close to a foot wide! and their both about a foot tall...

It all sounds good... just keep those seedlings far away from your lights, they don't need much.
