Advanced Stealth Hydro Bubbeponics Thread

All sounds good to me but if you are venting out the basement window you need to be concerned about who might be around that vent outside. You'll hit them right in the nose. Any way you can get to the chimney? Maybe tap into the furnace exhaust?

furnace is built into the bottom of the chimney, I was actually going to bring air in thru a window and drill a vent hole out under my deck for the exhaust which is completely inaccessible. It's about 6-7 inches above ground level. And I have a diy Carbon filter which i will attach mid duct.

Can't wait to get those temps down and seal that room up. Been wanting to put padlocks on them for awhile but it just wasn't practical until I could keep the doors shut.

Hey everyone this is a nice upgrade to your bubbleponics system..If you haven't upgraded to a digital PH/EC/Temp checker/meter, I would recommended this one, and it is on sale at a couple online stores. It is totally cool to be able to see your levels at a quick glance.

yeah so I'm upgrading my System... Need some better ventilation. I've been real lazy about it and well, its time . I've been leaving my door open all day and closing it at night, and a couple times have forgot and caused hermies.
Yeah man I know how that goes...It's a pain in the ass especially on weekends having to wake up and open the closet up

Well all seems to be well and great... Got the Reflector up, the duct fan and ducting and the new AC that I needed after all that didn't work. AND WE HAVE HOMEOSTASIS!!!!!! steady at 70* and the water temp is the same. AMEN.... Here some pics...

Does anyone here use a continues PH/EC meter? I'm trying to figure out why I have a difference in reading from when there is a light on compared to light off. Almost a .5 difference in PH, and 1 degree in water temp. It is instantaneous and not something that gradually increases as the time of the light is on.

Only thing I can come up with is magnetic interference from the ballast and bulb?

Maybe similar to this Hanna?

What range are you bouncing between? Plants eat different things in different amounts at different times. Probably not bad that it bounces due to uptake of elements optimiized at different PH levels. How and why do you measure with lights out?

Its a constant measuring meter, so I noticed that instantly when the light turned on the PH (reading) changed, went down. Light goes out, PH (reading)went up. Almost exactly .5.

In what range?
Not sure if I understand the question. If it was lights on it would be 5.5, and with lights off it would be 6.0.

I think I explained it backwards in other post.

This is from Hann's web site: A pH meter is essentially a volt meter. It reads an mV signal from the electrode and displays the reading in an easy to understand manner on the pH scale. The chart above shows the relationship of the pH values.

I'm thinking that this means a magnetic field could cause an error in reading?
Does anyone else use a constant PH/EC meter?

Don't know much about constant meters and I was just concerned what range the PH was bouncing around. 5.5 to 6.0 is nothing to be concerned about. Could it be that when the light comes on the increased power drain somehow changes something inside the meter like when you have a weak car battery and your headlights are not as bright as usual? I think I may be above my pay grade but at lieast the plants will be happy in that range.

Ahh what a beautiful thing. I went downstairs and the temps are still holding steady at 70 at plant height and 60 at floor level. My res is holding steady between 60-65. I've had fungus knat larvae because I could never get the res temp below 75. But now they're all about an inch above water level scared out of they're wits. confused as hell. It was great one swipe with the paper towel and I have a feeling that's going to be the end of them... ahhh, its so nice.... Homeostasis....
