Grow 2 lbs. on a 2’ x 4’ 32 Site DIY Aeroponic Unit

another question loudblunts if you dont mind. where do the misters need to be aimed? ive seen some misters all the way on top misting where the roots start and ive seen some that are much lower which seems like it sprays everywhere but not directly where the roots start.
 
dont mind at all...

i think its a matter of preference.

i havent build a large scale aero system b/c im not finish tuning to my liking....with that said.... i would probably route sprayers through the tops of lid....or make them accessible if possible

my next system, i want less moving parts
 
yes, you are right. i've moved away from medium can be too damn expensive at times....and too tedious to wash or rewash the medium.


im only using a neoprene collar
 
Hey guys maybe some one could help me out. I use an 18 gallon tote for my hydro with purified water and a hydro nutrient solution. I use a dual air pump with 12" airstones I have five plants just sitting in the water while the stones move the nutrient solution and o2 to the roots. Will this work? Or should my plants not be in the water all the time? Please help

Yes, that's what you call Deep Water Culture (DWC). When I used DWC I always had good results keeping the water level about 2" from the bottom of the netpot when the roots reach the water. That way there is a layer of open air for the roots and the tiny splashes from the bubbles popping make the new roots coming from the netpot explode with growth.

Just a couple questions...

What size neoprene collar and do you have any issues with your plants wanting to fall over?

yea pretty much what DND said....


make sure you have AMPLE bubbles....the more bubbles the better. get a nice air pump if need be. not one those sissy ones.

also keep that res COLD! no higher than 68F or you will start a nice little home that caters to yuckies and nasties

the sites on the aquamist are 4"

3.75" neoprene collars fit the 4"

i actually doubled up and also left the 2" neoprene that comes outta my aerocloner ontop of the 3.75" if that makes any sense?

and i do not have issues with plants falling over. i have a trellis to handle that

Yeah buddy, that's what I'm talking about, VISUALS. Pictures do speak a thousand words. I'm ordering my system at the end of August and going to set up up like this. I'm tired of all medium too, hydroton being the worst.

He wants to know if you can scale it up to 100 sites merely by cutting 100 holes, and not retrofitting the sprayers to accomodate the increase..

i wouldnt grow full term like that though.... i would only use it for a cloner.

as i can see hella crowding

those collars are a great idea i have been looking for something just like that, because as you said hydroton is a pain in the butt, thanks. BTW how long do you veg you plants in your aquamist ? just got the same model.
