oh really cause i have been driving for four years and the only accident i have ever gotten in i didnt even have my phone on me

so everyone in this thread needs to stop generalizing and throwing everyone into the same category

some people can text and drive without swerving

some people can text and drive without looking away from the road

some people cant

just because you have experienced all the "cants" doesnt mean there is not any "cans"
yes it does. You're driving a 2 ton piece of metal at 70 MPH it needs your un-divided attention. Would you do it if you had an infant in your car?

yeah i would actually

because, like i said before, you just have to pay attention to what the hell you are doing

but that would never happen because i wouldnt allow an infant in my car... i hate kids

to the person above you

no, i dont drive drunk, and i dont really drink for that matter, its not even close to the same thing

My point being is that there are people that think they can drive drunk fine aswell. Do you trust them?

Even if you are watching the road your mind is focused on what you are texting right?

no

my focus is on my top priority, which is staying in between the yellow and white lines

the texts may be mispelled or the T9 may have typed the wrong word, but thats how it is when your paying as little attention to your phone as you can

and dont throw me in the same category as drunk drivers

i really hate when people just lump others into groups they arent a part of

People who text and drive are retarded. They are the same people who total a car every 2 years and I swear to god when you listen to them talk it's NEVER there fault. The police were totally out to get them when they found them at fault.
I believe retarded people shouldn't text and drive because it takes a lot of hand eye coordination :hump:

then you'd be willing to put other people's lives in danger. That's real fucked up. Hope I never see you on the road. Cause if you think you can differentiate between 12 tiny buttons without taking your mind off the road whether you are looking at the phone or not you need to take a driving class.

so, i need to take a driving class to differentiate between twelve buttons?

stop, just stop

your making assumptions, and you have 0 evidence that i swerve, put others lives in danger, or am a hazard on the road

your just making accusations

think of it like this

can you type on your keyboard without looking?

then you can text witha number pad without looking

muscle memory

mind your own business

The text and driving is only an issue if you watch too much television. It's an issue because do-gooders make it an issue, because someone loses a loved one, and they make a federal case out of it, and a media campaign...

Cars are the real problem

Car Crash Stats: There were nearly 6,420,000 auto accidents in the United States in 2005. The financial cost of these crashes is more than 230 Billion dollars. 2.9 million people were injured and 42,636 people killed. About 115 people die every day in vehicle crashes in the United States -- one death every 13 minutes.

In 2003 there were 6,328,000 car accidents in the US. There were 2.9 million injuries and
42,643 people were killed in auto accidents.

In 2002, there were an estimated 6,316,000 car accidents in the USA. There were about 2.9 million injuries and 42,815 people were killed in auto accidents in 2002.

There were an estimated 6,356,000 car accidents in the US in 2000. There were about 3.2 million injuries and 41,821 people were killed in auto accidents in 2000 based on data collected by the Federal Highway Administration.

Shouldn't driving be banned because is so dangerous, or is it a mater of convenience like texting?

Do I try to type while I'm driving? No.
Obviously this is going nowhere, maybe I'll see you in the papers.
Just because you're not swerving doesn't mean you're driving safe.

If you want people to mind there own buisiness then STFU and get off the internet. This is a social site.

You're texting on public roadways. It is our business.:wall:
yay more people who think they can tell others what to do

you have no evidence i have put anyone in danger,

but still you insist on taking away my freedoms

soon it will be

radios are distractions, dont listen to the radio while driving

passengers are distractions, you cant have passengers anymore

There's no such thing as safe driving :wall:

When you put your child in a car seat you know you are putting your child's life in danger. There are a million things that can go wrong, and the percentage of idiots on the road is increasing every year, but most people will continue to pretend they're safe in a car.
