Wow this is a great discussion.
Not really like politics because we all have the same agenda, we don't want hermies! lol
I understand what your saying though moonshine.
Consider it a board meeting or community pow wow so to speak.
Let me also make mention that I think even a true female will naturally throw out at least one male flower during her life because of her weed background.
She will always try to reproduce, period.
I don't consider this scenario to be in the hermie league we are discussing here.
Most of us will never notice that one flower other than the odd seed we find in a our smoke.
One male flower does not signify the plant is hermie.
Feel free to comment about this.
I'm sure there's one seed co, that I can't remember at the moment, induces male flowers by letting the plant go past it's used by date.
This is of course the method they use to produce female seeds.
This is where MJ's natural 'weed like' reproductive tendencies play a part and are exploited wisely.
I do however think that NO veg period such as 12/12 from seed can influence the sex of regular seeds, (produce males), and may influence hermie action in fem' seeds.
i also agree with this statement, 12 and 12 from seed is not only unnatural for marijuana but i could definitley see potential stress occuring during the veg period
unless of course it was something that originated near the equator where the longest natural photo period would be 13hrs
Classic statements fellaz.
What this says is that it's not the 12/12 from seed that causes hermies it's the stress of it.
Stress, stress, stress.
I also think a plant with it's heritage around that latitude would not suffer the stress of 12/12 from seed and do well grown in that way.
Like moonshine mentioned with the way he got hermies from the plants in his plot that had undergone some form of stress.
Stress is paramount, therefore a good environment is also.
But will the perfect environment ensure hermie free females?
Or does it not matter the environment if you have shit genetics or a breed not suited to such conditions?
How long does it take through crossing, and breeding, to change the 'happy photo period' that out of a hybrid?
Is this why some seed companies have more stable strains, because they've been around longer?
