We had 4 kids & let me tell you, the washer and dryer were almost always running.
are you for real? i dont think even jon and kate + 8 have their dryer going for 12-18hrs/day 7 days a week.

if you went out your dryer during winter you're fucking crazy and just bringing attention to yourself

I have two big fans exhausting my veg room and flower room. The vents just go out two basement windows and I have yet to see any "steam". I doubt I will either, the only "weird" thing outside the house would be the fact that the snow melts super fast around that corner of the house . . .

The dryer vent police? Are people really timing how long invisible warm air is coming out of a hole that warm air is supposed to come out of?

40' is a long run, I would prob upgrade to 6" for as much as possible. That long of a run will choke your air flow substantially.

i have a six inch and actually need a 8 inch (need to chop down shit first) u think 40' outside the room will stop my airflow that greatly??? and would 40ft outside the house be long enuff to cool it down and not melt my deck all the time cuz that could be suspitious too

i can vent it back into my apartment just scared if the power goes out....

...why?

it appears that between your two problems venting outside VS inside during winter is the only real issue.

Also if you can vent into your apartment then please do so because that seems like the best idea given your situation, and as for the power issue...thats only an issue when it goes out. Until that happens you have no issue with the power.

if your power went out in the summer how would that differ than in the winter? (im assuming you vent through your window during the summer.

Know what i mean?

I don't understand why people don't heat their homes with their lights exhaust. I would run the exhaust hose into the cold air return of the air handler and leave the air handler fan on while the lights are on. If the house gets too warm crack a window or pull in air from outside with a fan. You could certainly save on the heat bill.

Being in an apartment makes it a little tougher. I'm in a house on a crawlspace, so I have flex duct running from 3" below the ceiling through an inline duct fan (from HTG) and out through a hole cut in the floor in the back corner of the closet. That way all exhaust goes under my house and has plenty of space/time to cool. Inside my room smells strongly of MJ, but you can't detect anything from outside and it is VERY quick and easy to repair/hide the hole in the floor if I want to (DON"T cut your carpet - just peel it back!).

wonder if you could rig up a turbine to use the airflow and capture the heat ... and turn that into a power source ....Very Eco Friendly :)

i vent my exhaust into my bedroom. its saved me money not having to run a electric heater in my room, when the lights are on. my room always smells like herb. i smoke 1/2-1oz a week(depending on how good it is and what i can afford). so i'm not to worried about the smell right now(my plants are in veg)

Just watched some good info on this subject and there's some videos called Never Get Busted Again parts 1+2, pieces of them are on Youtube or there is torrentz.com and I believe all of them are on there. Good info. from an ex-cop!

The cliff notes are basically; only vent it out of areas where heat is supposed to be coming out of, I.E. dryer vent, furnace vent, stove vent, etc. Never make your own brand new hole to vent heat out of. Peace =)

If your are realy worried about the smell and steam here is an answer. On top of every house apartment busness ect... there is a vent pipe that allows air to come in to let water able to run to your septic. It runs through your attic and is 4 to 6 inch diamiter. Just cut it in attic add a T and run inline fans to blow out. There is natural steam that comes out and the smell from septic will not let anyone smell it. I havent done it, but knew someone that did. And could smell nothing in house only in grow room. I own my house and am legal so don't worry about smell it is awsome to come home to.

Curious what people typically mean when they say "vent it to another room". How does one do that without say cutting a hole?
