Great thread, I've been using BioTerra plus, BioVega, Rhizotonic, Cannazym, and BioFlores for the last 4 grows going on 5. I've just picked up some PK 13/14 and have never used it before...says to use only once 3 weeks before harvesting...since I'm not always sure exactly when harvesting will be, do I ballpark it? I've used BioBoost once before in the small bottle, didn't seem worth a repeat of $40...but eveything else in the line is.

Hey everyone, Im hoping I can get some help.

This is my first grow and Ive chosen to use Canna coco medium with the A-B nutrients in an organic indoor setting. I put my seeds between wet paper towels in a humdity dome three nights ago. They have cracked and are beginning to extend their root tips. I plan on transplanting them to starter cubes within the same humidity dome tomorrow night.

When should I place the starter cubes in a dixie cup with canna coco medium?
When should I transplant the seedlings from the dixie cups to their 3 gallon pots?

Should begin introducing the A-B nutrients anytime soon?

I really appreciate your help.

Hey J....been a while. Just saying hey and loving your work as always. You are a bit of a scientist really mate ;)

re the Shooting powder. I couldn't justify the res quantities required for that stuff, so I'm using Top Shooter instead. It's pretty snotty stuff! Ever tried it before? My girls seem to be liking it, especially my Super Silver Haze, really packing on since I started using it. Whether they would be doing that anyway, IDK, cos I'm giving it to all three of them. I need to do a clone only room to really validate the performance. And I will be doing that some time next year. The bottle should last me quite a while.
wut up SW...
ive havent seen the top shooter for sell around these parts. ive been told it was kinda the same as shooting powder, but made for smaller rez situations?

im pretty sure this stuff kicks ass, but thats what all the testing is for :eyesmoke:

wut up jax, once you get some more posts, you wont be a stranger anymore... but about your questions.... i dont know much about purple max, but the gravity i have been using at half strength for the last 2 1/2 weeks of flower and i cut my base nutes back as well....this has been working well but im tempted to raise the gravity dosage a little.

ive been using the pk13-14 from week 3 1/2 threw week 5. :peace:

yes, just ball park it.... .
but once the flowers have started to form, it is a good time to start the pk13-14...... I would run it for the next 7-10 days.

i agree about the bio boost.... not worth the doe.

i would just put the cracked seeds straight into the coco as soon as possible...... if they are cracked open, then they are ready for the dixie cups full of coco.... the sprouts wont need any nutes and one watering will probably be good for the first few days or so( dont over water at this young stage!)

i assume that when you say starter cubes you mean rockwool or rapid rooters ect.... and i would just skip that step completely and not use them, but you can if you want.

take the humidity dome off as soon as they pop out of the coco..... (i never use a humidity dome for anything, but if u live in a dry climate then you may want to for sprouting)

transplant when the dixie cups are nicely rootbound... you can tell when they are rootbound because the cups will dry out very quickly (like in 24 hours)

use a super diluted strength A/B nute mix once the plant has a true set of leaves or two or three.... or you can just use plain water until the leaves pale a tiny bit, then add nutes.

if you have rhizotonic then you can start using it right away at a low dose.

goodluck.:joint:

Yeah man, that's exactly how H&G describe it, for smaller res situations. So that fitted my needs perfectly. I'm in my final phase with the Top Shooter at the moment, it's the final week with it then I'll start bringing down my EC with the A+B till flush time. I'm very excited about my Super Silver Haze though!!

Thank you for your response. So Ive decided to put my seedlings in dixie cups once they have established a good root structure (they are currently in starter cubes in a humidity dome). I know you suggested not to place them in a humidity dome but I read in "Growing Great Cannabis" that the dome is best for sprouting seedlings. I have about one inch of diluted water in this dome AT ALL TIMES to keep the starter cubes moist/wet at all times so that the seedlings do not dry out. So-

1. Can these seedlings be overwatered in this manner:sad:? Or do the starter cubes (theyre not rockwool they are like soil) keep them moist enough but not inundate them?

2. Once I transfer them to dixie cups (when they have a strong root structure), how much water should I give each of the seedlings?

yea the seedlings can be over watered and drown for sure.... i would fill it with a inch of water like twice a day for 10-20 min.... then drain it out.... keep the dome on until they grow leaves.

if the plants have a good root structure then u should use enough water so that you get run off out of your containers drain holes.

Thanks for the speedy replies :leaf:

. My seeds are currently in a humidity dome, only two of them have really sprouted out of the starter cubes; but i am concerned about one of them, it looks like it has experienced dramatic stem elongation. Check out the 2 pics I uploaded. The seedling is bent and won't grow straight up. What do I do?

I am currently using 4 flourescent bulbs, 2- 20 actual wattage and 2- 26 actual wattage.

Also- once they develop a strong root structure and I transplant them to dixie cups with canna coco I am going to start giving them the A-B nutrients at 1/8 dosage a day. When should I start increasing the dosage and by what increments??

hi, about to embark on my first grow. ive got my clones ready and rooted. im using an autopot system and have chose to use terra professional plus soil. i'm trying to keep it simple for first time round but wondered what are the recommended nutrients to use with this medium. also how much do i need over course of growth and when should i start feeding. ive managed to develop a pretty good understanding of the general process but would appreciate any info on feeding/nutrients, thanks.

scribb, i would recommend canna's terra line of nutrients...... they are simple to use and is a one part complete nutrient..... you would need terra-vega for vegging, and terra-flores for the flowering cycle.

you can use some additives as well if you want to go the extra mile, but you could do fine with just those 2 products.

here is a little more info on the terra nutes...

Canna Terra Vega product details:

Canna’s products for cultivating on soil are called Canna Terra which are available in Terra Vega and Terra Flores for the veg and flower phases respectively. Canna Terra is suitable for use on all soil and soil mixes but for best results should be used with Canna professional and Canna professional+ soils for which it is perfectly balanced and calibrated.

Canna Terra was the first nutrient on the market that was developed for cultivation on soil. Canna Terra remains unequalled due to its revolutionary Terra formula and the high standards that Canna sets during production. Terra has different nutrients for growth and flowering (vega and flores). This ensures that the correct doses of nutrients are available for each stage of the plant’s development.

Canna Terra Vega is a complete professional nutrient for fast growing plants during the veg phase of plant growth. Terra Vega ensures a vigorous plant with large vital shoots. Terra Vega is a single part nutrient that's easy to use, directly dissolves and is extremely suitable for growing either by hand or in ”run to waste” irrigation systems. Terra Vega has been developed to meet the plant’s requirements during the growing phase. Complete absorption of water and feeding from the start of cultivation is also guaranteed because Terra Vega is rich in nitrogen compounds that can be absorbed directly, high value EDDHA iron chelate's and trace elements.

Canna Terra Vega usage:

Start using Terra Vega once seedlings or cuttings are established. Use throughout the veg-phase then swap to Terra-Flores two weeks into the flower-phase.

To use Terra Vega simply add the nutrient to your water until the desired level is reached. To exactly measure the strength or EC of your nutrient solution get a nutrient truncheon. If you cannot afford one you'll have to go by the measurements on the bottle (which can be a little strong).

TERRA FLORES
In the brief but exuberant blooming period of a plant, it is vital that nutrients are directly available and properly composed. The preparation method of Terra Flores is adjusted to compensate for the binding effect of earth as a medium. Terra Flores also stimulates the development of flowers and contains all the nutrition that a plant needs during the blooming phase. For instance, plants need a considerably smaller amount of nitrogen during the blooming phase. On the other hand, the amount of potassium and phosphate needed is larger. Terra Flores is rich in these compounds and specially chelated trace elements that can be absorbed directly, guaranteeing a perfect bloom.

so i am just at week 6 of my coco grow i was wondering if they are going to continue to fill out i just started the gravity and moab and they are looking good but i look at other journals and the buds seem to be a little fuller at this stage dont get me wrong they are sticky as hell and smell nice. I was wondering if its cuz they are in 1 gal bags if i would have bagged up would they have filled out a bit more or am i just being a rookie and they will fill out more in the last two weeks? also jberry how long does your dream usually go for

mine are done after 8 weeks.....

they should fill out still, this strain doesnt fill out until the last 2 weeks.

Hey Guys I really appreciate all the feedback youve given me. Im touching base with you guys about my first grow, a Blue Mystic strain. Im getting worried about my seedlings.

I am concerned about my seedlings at this stage. I had originally planted six and four of them didnt make it (I probably over-watered the starter cubes), So I transplanted the remaining 2 into dixie cups with drain holes in Canna Coco Medium (cuz I hear you can never overwater it). But one of them never dropped its seed to reveal its true leaves (Maybe my 400 watt Metal Halide was too close). When those 2 were a week old I planted three new seeds straight into dixie cups (no more starter cubes, they screwed me over).

So here is the current predicament-

2 of them are over 2 weeks old (though the one that never dropped its seed is probably dead now)

3 of them turned one week old on Tuesday.

The 2 and a half week old has received a diluted 3ml per gallon solution of canna A&B nutrients two days in a row (starting when it almost turned 2 weeks old) and then I flushed it two days in a row with distilled water (with purposely lowered PH) to lower PH.

The 1 week old seedlings have received a diluted 1ml per gallon of canna A&B nutrients one day and have been flushed for two days in a row with the same lowered PH distilled water to lower PH.

BUT Im really worried cuz the plants seem to be turning yellow and not growing straight upwards. I raised the 400 watt Metal halide from less than 3 feet to about 4 feet above the plants in case they were suffering from heat stress.

These are the pics of them as of right now (had to use my phone sorry)......

-the first pic is the 2 week old survivor (it was turning really yellow and had a big brown spot on the edge of a leaf). After giving it its first dosage of 3ml nutrients it recovered a lot. But it is still a little yellow and has that crispy brown edge on one of the first/older leaves.

- The other pics are of the one week old troopers.

SO...
what is their condition?
where do I go from here???
Do I continue with low dosages of A&B canna nutrients followed by periodic flushes to lower PH??

dont flush with plain water.

just give the ph adjusted diluted nutes to the seedlings whenever they need water (dont water if the coco is wet and soggy still).... as the plant starts to grow, slowly increase the nutes with each watering until u are at full strength.

you shouldnt have to do much of anything else at this point.... just water them WHEN THEY NEED IT and be patient.

if your stems get too elongated, then u can bury it almost up to the leaves and that will fix that problem.

i`m entering my 8th week of flowering and i`ve been flushing for one week already. My question is do i need to replace all the water in my system (i`m doing hydro and have a 12 gallon reservoir) or can i top it off with more water and add more of the CannaZym and Boost?
