Roseman's DIY Bubbleponics Tutorial

While discussing the advantages of bubbleponics over straight DWC you touch briefly on the subject of cloning. Would you have any more advice to offer on the subject of starting clones in rockwool in a bubbleponics system. By the way, we are all excited to see how your harvest goes. Great job.

Thank you Jonnybtreed and Haul me to heaven.

I'm amazed how every grow continues to be a learning experience of "fine tuning".

pizzanova,
There are all kinds of way of possibly doing something, and doing it well, or doing it the best way. Yesterday, I answered a post about using CFLs from a newb, and an experienced grower with over 500 posts and on his third grow posted that I was wrong. He said in suggesting that using and needing a Dual Spectrum or both 2700k and 6500k bulbs at the same time was wrong, and that he had completed two grows, using ONLY 6500k in Vegging and ONLY 2700k in Flowering, and that he had never used both at the same time. I tell you this to make the point of YES, you can drive from New York to California on a bicycle, or a moped, or in a Kia, or in a Yugo even, but in a new Corvette or in a Luxury Cadilac SUV would be much more easier and better.

And YES, you can start clones in a plain DWC that already have roots and do not already have roots. With Roots is going to be much faster and easier, but it can be done without roots in a DWC.

And YES, you can start clones with or without roots in a Bubleponics System with feeder tubes, and it is going to be much faster and easier than the DWC system.

I like faster and easier.

I will be trying an experiment for my harvest. Since I assume I will be doing 2 harvests, I am going to let my last plant gor for 24 hours of no water just before harvest. I will let you know the results when the time comes. Read the thread below to see the discussion.

Lt Shiny,

Many books suggest a 24 hour DRY period of no water in the tank to speed up the drying process, BUT they also say it makes manicuring much more difficult. Manicuring green fresh leaves is much easier than manicuing dried wilted sticky leaves that cling to the buds. Try it both ways and you will NEVER manicure later after drying.

I 've been on RIU 3 years and seen at least 5 or 6 threads, if not a dozen, from new first time growers that say they messed up big time NOT manicuring before Drying.
1, it makes manicuring much more difficult when you wait, and 2, not manicuring can cause bud mold and delay drying.

Purpdaddy, that is a great contribution to this tutorial!

While some grower's crops wil be wilting and withering from a week's FLUSH, mine will be growing!

My nute burn has recovered and I added full strenght nutes this morning. They loved it after that fast of no nutrients for a week.

Yea...i guess ill just use the FLUSH solution i bought to clean left over nutrients out used hydroton and used net pots! And i like to let my pump run in some flush solution in about 2 gal of water b4 my next grow to get all the left over nutes outta there..

Nitrogen in Flowering

I flowered for a few weeks on high phosperous Bloom Nutes only, and everyday, I came home and picked up 3 or 5 leaves from each plant, that had yellowed and fell off. All of them came from the lower 1/3 of the plant. I had a large shoe box and a half full of dried dead leaves from 9 plants, although two plants were seriously small runts..

After a few weeks, I started adding a very fractional part of VEG nutes high in nitrogen to my Flowering Nutes. I started as an experiment on one of three reservoirs, and after 4 or 5 days, I add N to the other two tanks. Since the 2nd day of adding the very slightest amount of Nitrogen, NOT ONE leaf yellowed and died off.
I also saw extra growth on my buds too. The plants seemed healthier and happier and more green and lush, they had a bigger thirst or appetite for water too, and I will always add a very slight amount of extra Nitrogen to my Flowering Cycle in every grow I do in the future.

BUT to be 100% honest and tell you everything I have observed,

on the other side of the coin,

I am contemplating and thinking that it might be natural, or normal, or even beneficial for the lower third of the plant to lose those leaves so that LIGHT can penetrate deeper into the plant. My plants are so thick in leaves, well, I've never seen anything like it. A half inch from the bottom of each plant's stump or trunk are buds and leaves galore, thicker than I could imagine. The foilage is much much thicker than on any plant I have ever seen.

check my avator out RM , i have exacxtly the same issue, i have foliage in abundance, and buds everywhere, light penetration is a bit of a problem as their so full and lush, just looking for the latest pics of this grow!!!!
what page please

Just to give you the otherside of the coin. Learned this at local dispensary seminar:

Large fan leaves get trimmed either way, but some argue to leave the smaller trim leaves. The idea is, the trim leaves act as a protective sheath shielding the bud itself. It will take longer to dry, but some argue a longer, slower dry will equal better quality.

On top of this, they argue that dried buds are handled more craefully. Wet buds tend to get handled a little more harshly, and dry buds are taken care of a little more.

To each his own. I trim them as close as I can, and trim wet.

im subscribed to this thread, ive noticed a lot of experienced growers post on here!! no offence to the newbies but its nice to read about different techniques and such rather than the same old newbie questions, 1 thing for sure is with growing the all mighty green is that there is always something new to learn or imrove on. peace

Just like you and me.

This one looks about ready.
Northern Lights strain in far right tank.

The pic does not capture the trichs good, but they are plenty there.

This might be my largest bud, a N/L. I measured it and it is 20 inches long and bigger around than my forearm.

See half way down that bud, that little 4 inch long branch or stem with nothing but little flowers and strange looking single leaves on it. I have a stem or branch in the back of the closet, that is about 24 inches long with about 30 of those stems up and down it, it is ALL those little stems with flowers on it and it resembles a fox tail or more like a long peacock feather.

Your The Bubble king :clap::clap::clap::weed:

This is the SKUNK Bud, or Big Skunk Bud, and it smells alot different than the N/L smells. Funny, the N/L smells like a skunk, and the Big Skunk Bud smells like sweet flowers. A light bulb burned one side of it a week ago, just a little.

I trim very closely and completely just to get those trim leaves to make hash.
