Too Dry!! Any sugestions how to moisten

So I just harvested my first plant and I had to go out of town for a week. I turned my fan on low and aimed it down on the bud. When I returned 6 days later I had some very dry bud, Too dry in fact. It is very crispy and everytime I disturb it some more flakes off. It keeps crumbling, I dont want it to all turn to shake. I weighed it and was pleased with my extra dry weight of 122 grams :bigjoint: (all off 1 plant by the way). I put all the bud into 1 quart mason jars and sealed the lids, Hoping there is still a little internal moister that will bring it back. If this doesnt work, can any of you advise me on an easy way to rehydrate the buds preferably while they are still in the mason jars so I dont have to disturb them any more?

you already put them in the mason jars.. if that doesnt moisten them back up, u can add an orange or grape fruit peel to the jar for a few hours.. then open the jar to let it air and continue that process until the bud feels right... Makin sure nothing rots in there.. Obviously youll smell the peel but it might not be as bad as very very dry bud!!:)

That sounds good this bud already has a fruity smell so an orange peel should do nicely. Will the bud on the bottom get moistened if I put the peel on top? I really dont want to pull the bud back out. I am gonna give it a day or two before trying anything. Thanks.

When I buy too dry bud i put in baby ffod jar with a moist paper towel peice that I stick to the inside of the lid a couple drops and it back to plyable again not crusty just try that on a lager scale bigger piece of towel on the lid of the mason jar just add a alittle at a time and see how moist they get cause you can over do it

yea dude i used a few pieces of an orange peel for 30 mins in a small mason jar and the buds were back in business real quick, and they were flaking off when i just touched them just like yours before hand. So maybe with an amount such as yours you might wanna split it up into a few jars with no bigger than thumb size pieces of peel in each jar make sure to disburse the peels around each jar so you get equal moisture on the buds. peace brotha hope all works out :bigjoint:

ok if you dont wanna touch the buds because you dont want to much flaking just throw small piece like previously stated and then just spin the jar on its side so to make sure the buds arent damaged. good luck brotha.

how's it growing ppl? If I had really dry weed I'd use a spray bottle. Dump the weed out on a paper bag and give them a little mist and leave them out in the open for awhile, keep checking them and then when they have a little moisture in them turn them over and do the other side and make sure you don't soak them, then put them back in the jar and burp them every so often.

Thats alot of paper bags and bud flippin for me. I really didnt want to disturb the bud to much as I previously stated. Thanks though.

Relax.

The curing process will re-moisten the bud. Any residual moisture will find its way to the bud.

Trust me. I am a chronic over-dryer because I fear mold worse than I fear the clap.

In no time you will have some savory bud just the right consistency.

I use the leaves that I cut off clones, just a small one (or piece of one) works great

but any leaf off any plant will work, in the past I have used celery and parsley leaves

I have also heard that a piece of stem from a harvested or topped plant will work

I have used orange peels with tobacco but never with herb, no reason just have not done it

A cool mist humidifier for a few hours followed by proper curing will also get rid of your dryness.

I'm telling you if you dont want hassle or someother smell just use the paper towel piece with a few drops of water. Start slow so u dont worry about getting to moist usually within a few hours you can tell. I bought plenty of dry ass bud over the years which is great because of the weight, then put in a jar a few hours later slow burning sticky not to moist bud perfect for smoking

Thats kinda what I ended up doing. I put a half ounce in 8 mason jars then I took 8 paper towels and folded them in half twice to make a square about 5x5" I lightly dampened them and layed each paper towel over the opening to the jar then I screwed the lids back on. That was last night I will check on them when I get home after work. The bud already smokes good but a little hard to sell shake. I act more concerned than I really am the bud is great. Instead of sticky icky I have Crispy ispy :bigjoint: Thanks again

in the mason jars humidity is kept inside.
as liquids evaporate from one bud they keep inside the jar and get in the other buds.

Keep em in the jars for a week. if that doesn't help, put in a peel of some citrus fruit for a few hours closed inside, then pull it out and close the mason jar for 3 days.
repeat as needed.
note that too much humidity can cause rot. over-dried buds are way better than rotting buds.

You should open the mason jar every day if normally dried after harvest to let humidity out and fresh air in. if you've overdried your buds do it once every 3-4 days, but don't skip it.
just shake the jar a bit, open it for 30 minutes and close again.

I agree except instead of 30 minutes open the jar for 10 minutes daily.
