Building New Growroom

to add to the last post... Do I need to run 4 seperate lines from each side of the double 20A breaker, to each 240v outlet... or can we run 1 line from each and parrallel them along to each other outlet... hope that makes sense...

-Mitus

you can go from box to box... outlet to outlet... but you have to get the two wires coming from the double 20 breaker to each side of the 240 receptacles (the gold colored screws)

EDIT::
you can not go from white to black, white to black... like you can with 120

you'll have to carry both legs to each receptacle... but you do not have to run 4 lines all teh way back to the sub-panel

so as long as I am connecting the same line to the same side of the recepticles i'll be ok?

yes... each of the two wires comign off of the double 20 breaker is 120... add them together and you have 240... so you have to have both the top and bottom wire off the double breaker at each receptacle to have 240

and then string the ground across the boxes

So I've got the sub-panel side of this done... I feel like a freakin electrician now haha...

Tomorrow I'm gonna connect the main-panel and keep my fingers crossed...

Here is a few shots of the work that got done today.

-connected sub-line (#6 wire x4) to the sub-panel
-connected three 125v outlets w/ romex wire to the 15A breakers in the sub-panel
-connected four 240v outlets w/ 10 gauge wire to the dual 20A breaker in the sub-panel (connected two hots and one ground to first outlet, then parallel connected the other three outlets)

Holy crap man... you did a bang up job.

I'm back around, if you need any advise on the main panel end.

Awesome work. Like you said... keep the fingers crossed.

Wow... I gotta say that was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do... Thank you so much guys for the help and quick answers when I needed them!!

We wired the main-panel today and drywall'd the holes back up... everything from the outside looks amazing... as well as on the inside... I couldnt be happier. I used a multi-meter to check the voltage on all the outlets in my powercenter and everything was perfect.

Now I'm ready to begin setting up the growroom!!

Here is a few shots of the finished electrical work... a shot of the room with some of my supplies in it... and a shot from the door of the room to show where the sub-panel is located...

gonna relax a little tomorrow... then back to work

Doing great work over there Mitus!!

Just shows the finished project is going to be awesome, really looking foward to seeing the build. Other then growing, seeing somthing being built from a clean slate all the steps through is really fun to watch.

Glad i found the thread now so i can join the build maybe even help out if i can.

Keep it up!!

Hell yeah Mitus. You and your homeboy did a smash up job (did I already say that?).

But seriosly... I'm rea proud of you guys. You tackled something totally beyond you when you began... but you have come out the other side with tremendous results. Not only do you have a bad ass electrical setup... but you have one that YOU reserched, purchased, and installed. You guys now know how to do so many more things now. You are both skilled beyond 98% of people in something.

You guys fucking ROCK!!!!! :weed: :hump:

Thanks guys, I really appriciate it! We did check the power on all the outlets with a multi-meter and all the voltage was there. I don't have the 240v cords for my ballasts yet so I cant test them, but I'm sure i'll be fine :). Today I'm going to start mudding the drywall in the grow room and get ready to start hanging lights and setting things up.

Reading another thread right now the guy just installed a co2 burner.

Only thing i read negative so far about them is they produce allot of heat, so they are not good to have in the actual grow area. So if you get the burner i would set it up where the breaker is by the bathroom.

BUT

To make things easy on you i would just go with the tank and regulator.

This is all coming from a guy that has never used either.

What do you guys think about propane burners for CO2 vs regular CO2 ?
Yeah man.... not coming from experience, but from reading. I would go with a tank and regulator. Those burners produce heat... PLUS the big thing for me... is they produce co2. That shit is bad for the environment. The stuff you get in the tanks is captured co2... so you are making use of what would be extra co2 in our environment.

Haha, me and hulk always giving out opinions we have no experience with. But hey... no one else is answering. :hump:

another experience-less reply for you

in your scale i'd go with a tank... burners would be better off in larger scale ops... filling a warehouse with co2 would be rough with tanks.. but filling your area wouldn't be to hard
