3 leafed clones?

I recently took some clones from a mendo purp and during the veg cycle they seemed fine except they only have three leaves instead of 5... They look healthy and are budding now... What causes this? On my last harvest i actually got decent buds off of a couple others with 3 leaves... any comments or advice?

hey man same happened to me with my perfafrost plant in my sig. when i first got it, no more than three rays on a leaf. have done a lot of fimming and pruning, and now i dont see many more three leafers.. kinda funky tho for sure

...temps usually can be responsible for deformed leaves.

Same here, I had a batch of clones where some had three leaves ( sensi star ) that lasted some way through veg until it finally grew five. Then when I cloned one of the 3-leafers, I got a clone with some 1-leafers, which finally grew out too.
Very strange.

Yeah - check out 3 and 1, you should be able to see how strange all the leaves are. They get normal at the top ..

I found that fimming a plant VERY early in veg will create the three leaflet leaf. I have one that oddly enough has two leaflets. I am not going to fim my next batch until much later in veg and see if the new growth has a different response. I am curious if the fimming is responsible or not. Please reply with similar experiences with premature fimming and we'll get to the bottom of this!

just out of curioucity did you clone from a plant in budding or from veg, mine came from the end of budding not my choice but thats how the guys took cutting they didnt really know what they where doing but i had to swoop on it, dont know what strain it is but super dank so i figured why not they gave me a couple clones cause i let them borrow some t5 fixtures

I definitely took them from the plants in their veg state, but a couple of them were pre-flowering...
