Clones take too long to root?

This whole cloning buisness is stupid hard. I spent hundreds of $ on building a clone station and growing out a mother plant just so I can have the one strain I wanted. I have been growing amazing pot so far. All I want to do is make my own clones for less than what it's costing to buy them in the store. I've done everything I was told with this cloning business up until I was told get a bubbled cloner, but so far I've spent more $ trying to make them than they cost . I was lucky to find the same strain already at the store so I order them since I'm still not seeing roots on my clones. I'm not sure what I've done wrong?

did ypu make your cut under water than dip in hormone some times it can take 2 weeks to root some hardwood cuttings can take a year i had some clones that took 2 weeks at least iam on day 8 again now and no roots but they are perky so int ill they wilt keep spaying them with water a couple times a day and you can buy a warming pad for like 30 bucks i think

i feel you....

i know my way around soil but this cloner is driving me nuts.....

13 days no roots..... But yet the babies are still standing.......

The mom had alot of preflowers but was still in veg.... Still is......

13 days????????????

i use the og method. a plastic tub a dome a flourescent light a heatmat some rockwool cubes 5.5 ph water and some cloning gel . i get 100% success at 14days every time. i make about 25- 50 clones per cycle so i didnt want to spend 300 bucks on an ezcloner or powercloner.

That's the same method I used. Clone dome with seed heat mat and root gel. 5.5 ph water 4-6ft away from my 400watt metal hylide. I've sprayed every day with water and now thrive b-1 . I'm on day 11 and nothing? I did cut off some yellow dead looking leaf because I don't want mold. I'll Waite just one more week than in the garbage they go.

you kids and your cloners

All you need is some small solo cups, a little soil, some rooting gel/powder and PH'd water. I always get roots in 7-10 days. Just cause the "new new" cloning gear is out dont mean its the best ;-)

Tell me what I would do with all that soil? I would have to use hydroton clay in the cups. I planed on doing that as soon as there's roots

Honestly the soil just keep the rockwool plug in place, they do have trays that hold the smallest rockwool cubes but I use soil and when the clones root I just grow em in there for a few weeks while the root zone builds. You should be able to use the hydroton in cups. The plugs are pretty cheap though its like 100 for $13-$14

Can just stick that into the hydroton. You can also use those cubes in your cloners w/o the hydroton.

Heres the cloning tray that holds the small cubes

(thats prob better for your setup, after they root just take out of the tray and put into your hydroton. I know ya got money invested into the cloner, this is just another way in case you dont like the cloner :bigjoint:

How old is your mom? Do you have your heat mat sitting right under your clones? Are you using a dome? Are you spraying your clones or just the inside of the dome? :leaf:

Those heat mats can get way too hot for clones. I learned this the hard way. I keep my propagator tray on 2-3 layers of towels in order to keep the heat at the desired level. This could be your problem. :leaf:

I didn't just use any heat mat I actualy paid for the one that is for seeding and clones. I can't realy feel the heat because it only gets to 75 ambient heat

The most recommended of all soils is Fox Farms Ocean Forest (FFOF for short) Theres enough nutrients to feed seedlings/clones for 2 weeks then you have to supply nutrients. IMHO that soil gives any grower the best start for soil growing :bigjoint:

I currently use peat moss mixed with perlite, FFOF is great soil but can get costly after a while. Its great for beginners though :blsmoke:

Never Miracle Grow, but if you must use it, do not I repeat DO NOT add any of your own nutrients to the soil. You can burn your plants very very easily with Miracle grow soil so be careful.

OCEAN FOREST POTTING MIX 1.5 CUBIC FEET This unique potting soil combines the best fertilizers found on land with the finest sea ingredients available. The result is a rich, light, organic potting soil ready to use right from the bag. Ocean Forest Potting mix encourages healthy root growth, disease resistance and leafy foliage. Consists of rich composted forest humus, spaghnum and Norwegian kelp meals - an of course, FOXFARM’s premium earthworm castings. There are even some oyster shells mixed in to ensure a balanced pH. Ocean Forest Potting mix is simply the best soil on the market today. It is 100% organic and natural and grows plants better than any other soil we have ever used. If you are serious about growing the best plants possible you need to be using the best soil available, you need FoxFarm’s Ocean Forest Potting Mix. This soil is VERY popular with our customers. 1 Bag - 1.5 cubic feet Ocean Forest Potting Mix

I donno either, but cloning is cheap and easy. I can make 100 clones for under $10 of rockwool, $8 for my tray, $20 for my heat mat, a couple bucks on nutes, and maybe $7 for dip n grow... you're doing something wrong buddy. it does take a little while you won't have roots for transplanting for 14 days plus - clones can take months. You are either too impatient or something - but you should be confident in your method before you spend hundreds on a setup (btw how did you manage that, cloning is cheap and easy).

TRIED AND TESTED METHOD FOR ROOTING : put the cutting in a cup of water ( and change h2o every 3 days) - just the stem about an inch deep - put it in a window sill - wait one month - you should have roots.

I wasn't aware they made any other kind of heat mat. Trust me bro, they can get too hot sometimes. If you can't really feel any heat then you are probably ok but don't think that just because it's made for seedlings and clones that it won't get too hot. :bigjoint:

yes they make seedling heatmats with thermostats sold seperatly to control the amount of heat.

Thanks man.

But check this out.... i was reading an old clone post and it said you really need to use a soiless mix because any nutes in the soil make stop the rooting process.

Any truth to this?

i think thats why I did not have success this go round with the aero cloner because my moms were heavily ferted..... I think the N stunted root production.

Nah I cloned with Miracle grow before, then chemical shit too not the organic. Cloned in that while in flower and while in veg didn't have a problem ;-)
