To clone now or not to clone at all?? Difficult dilema!!!

So I have a plant that was started in November(?) or so, grown indoors with 2 large flourescent lights in soil. The lights are called "plant grow lights" and I got them from Lowe's so I assume they are legit. They are T8. ANYWAY, the plant has slow growth but otherwise looks healthy. It is only around 8 or 9 inches tall with five or six tiers of leaves in sets of 2. It has never been FIM'd or super cropped or anything. The thing is that it is now showing signs of going into flowering, which worries me because I know this is a really good strain and I wanted to have it as a cloning mother plant. The pistils are small but they are growing faster by the day. My question is, should I clone it before it starts budding? Or should I wait until it buds, and then hope it doesn't die and clone it AFTER budding? All help is greatly appreciated.

What is your light cycle?
It could just be pre-flowers.

18/6 but they've been at my friend's and sometimes he accidentally does 12/12 :( so he might have induced flowering

Dude, you can clone anytime you want. It just depends how long it will actually take to root. But you can take a cutting when the plant is flowering, but you have to revert it back to its vegetative cycle, and it will take a while to root. But I suggest you take a few now, because it sounds like you just have preflowers from maturing plants. And it also sounds like you have your veg cycle still going, so you're good.

Right, however, doesn't sound like you have very many bud producing stems yet.
Possibly you should top it now to produce lower stem growth. Keep it in 18/6 or 24/0
so it won't flower.

See that's what I was worried about. There are no stems except the main stem. All the growth so far has been singular leaves. I'm going to take your advice and try to push it back to veg and stimulate growth. Is there any chance of me turning the plant hermie by doing this?

Gonna fuck up your plant if you keep going from 18 to 12 to 18 to 12 like that, she's gonna grow balls!

Ask him why the hell he'd do that.

Ah I hope this baby doesn't get fucked up. It came from a seed of supposedly the best marijuana that was in my town. The story behind this plant is crazy lol, I'll try to get a pic up soon!

Really! Quit fucking with the light cycle.:wall: Keep it on 18/6 and leave it be.

Top the plant for sure to get some side growth going for clones and perhaps some more light. Even a shop light, T8 or T12 with bulbs in the 6500k range would help.
