I have yet to root a successful clone.. :dunce:
and I think the last time I tried, I think the light was too close and fried them.

so my question is this-- what should the distance of my T5 4 ft 4 bulb light be from my fresh cuttings that Im going to root in rapid rooter plugs under a humidity dome?

also, I know each person is different when it comes to this, but should I mist the cuttings or mist the inside of the dome? plz give explanation

thanks

I never had much luck untill I started using the bubble cloner. I keep tubes off the plant a few inches. Fresh cuttings don't seem to need much light. I mist the plants two or three times a day. If everything is set good I have roots in 5 days.

I made a little bubble cloner to try some cuttings out but that didnt work for me either. they never just died off but were never shooting any roots even after 10 days so i just tossed them. ph was at 5.4 too :wall:

I used a a 2 gal taping mud bucket. 2-5" air stones and a small heater. These pics are not so good. I found that the water needs to be around 80. to root but that way to warm for roots. I had a good amount of faile clones untill I figured out the water temp.
The cut out you see in the bucket is where I put the heater cord.

With T-5's and clones, 26"-30" at least or you will cook them.

I know I did with my first batch under T-5 HO's.

The second batch did ok with the T-5's about 30" above, but after that little experiment, I went back to my T-12 set up. The T-5's just seem a bit much for rooting clones.

thanks mate, its the only light i have at the moment for doing them, guess i could use the 2ft 2 tube t5 i have and raise that up maybe 20" and see how it goes if the 4ft 4 tube is going to be abit much for them.

i need to get my mothers going from these cuttings so i need to get this right 1st time, then once i have developed the mothers and there healthy i could maybe experiment a little and see what works best for them with what i have, aslong as i have my mothers then they'll be plenty of cuttings for testing ;).

well got my cuttings in today guys so hope they do well, i set my ph'd water to around 5.2 as iv read thats best for clones to start with, please correct me if wrong there as ill adjust it asap, but see how they go through the night, will give the dome another mist before bed time. i have the t5 about 36" above the cuttings so see how it goes, hopefully they all root so i can pick 2-3 nice 1's to keep as my mothers.
