I am thinking of just letting them grow naturally this time, I have never tried that before. Right now I'm leaning towards forcing them a bit sooner though, to keep them smaller. I want to try to get 8 plants in my 2x4 flowering area so I am gonna have to get smaller square containers.if your going to lst her then I suggest 10-12 weeks vegging...like Krystle.
If your just going to top then I'd wait 8 weeks to flower...if they are growing anything like mine are your safe in that range.
But always listen to your plant.
They kinda let ya know.

Right now I have 2x 150W HPS, but I am thinking of buying a 400W HPS Sunday. It all depends how much money I have left over after I upgrade my ventilation and odor control. My Sour D. plants are starting to stink. I also need to buy a new multimeter, pots and more soil. I think I might have around $600, so it'll be a tight budget.

what do you think is causing the difference in appearance? droopy versus upturned leaves...dark green versus well..... a diff. shade of green w/ a hint of yellow on a couple of leafs, not criticizing just curious.

From everything Ive heard and actually read from speedy he seems like a super cool guy who is striving to be the absolute best as far as customer service, Im getting ready to order from him just because I love the fact that he's here alot answering questions and is incredible helpful. We all need more reliable banks for our business and as time goes on and speedy adds more breeders to his site, sky's the limit for an honest businessman in that industry, KEEP IT UP SPEEDY, havent heard one bad thing about you, although some complain about the website being slow, but it runs just fine for me. Not sure, but yeah one of them is definitely not doing as good. I guess it's just a variation in phenotype. That happens with some not so stable strains. It takes years, maybe even a decade, to breed a truly stable strain with consistent phenotypes. I am gonna back off the watering a bit though. Besides one being started in rockwool, that's the only variable I can think of. I don't measure out for each plant and just pour it on there. Maybe it was the rockwool that made the difference :/ I am sure she'll be OK, and if not I'll just clone off the stronger one and flower the shitty one. At least both their stems are nice and fat, I like that.

so the droppy one was the one started in rockwool?
i was thinking of using rockwool to start in this time, but if that's the only diff between the 2.....well one has to come to the conclusion that that's the culprit. i guess i'll stick w/ peat tabs.
+ rep to ya for a perfect side by side example of starting in rockwool versus strating in soil! really....this has changed my mind on how to start my plants this year.
see ppl.......this is y ya subscribe to a thread!!! for great little "nuggets" of info like this! just like mining for gold.....little bit here....little bit there....and before to long you've collected enuff to do something with!!!!!

oh, forgot to tell ya that the stems did look good on both. and some of the shade diff is just shadows on the plant that i didn't notice last night. wat did u mean when u said " I don't measure out for each plant and just pour it on there."? anyway as arnold says 'I'LL BE BACK' lol.

No, the weird thing is the one in rockwool is doing better, that's why I thought it was the phenotype. Thanks for the Rep, appreciate it. I have to take the plants out and shoot some pics under regular lighting, they look much better that way, but I did have some yellowing on the first set of leaves. I mean I don't measure out how many ml of water each plant gets. I just have a soda bottle with water and pour it until it comes out of the bottom, so one might have been a bit more saturated than the other.
No 400Watter, I am afraid I blew my budget on other stuff I really needed. In all actuality 300W should be more than enough for my 2x4 area, I just have to try to keep my plants shorter. I bought a 2x4 tray, 8 big square pots to go in it and 8 square little pots to start them with. I also bought a new 190CFM inline fan, insulated exhaust tubing, a special clamp to hold them together and a 16" charcoal filter.

I think the problem is that after the plants drain all the nutes from the soil you need to flush and start with a new fertilizer regimen. A lot of people don't think about that and just throw more nutes on, in fact throwing the nutrient levels way off. I've done it myself before, so I can see how anybody could make that mistake. If I had the money I would have bought something better, but I have to work with what I can afford.

Just wanted to say thanks for posting your journal! I bought some Flying Dutchman The Pure seeds from Speedy Seedz because of your journal and success so far. I am a true newb when it comes to growing and Speedy suggested The Pure for my 2nd grow attempt. I learned a lot from my first bagseed grow. Anyways- love your journal, keep up the good work!

Thank you for stopping by. Now I feel better about not being able to buy more seeds from Speedy after he gave me mine for free. My wife said I already blew my budget, LOL. I wanted to get the Dutch Passion Purple #1 and she loved the way it looked, but we just can't afford it right now. I was hoping to give some free promo to Speedy with this thread, glad it's working.
