Spider Mites that Won't Go Away

Good to hear!...hopefully my luck swings that way soon...So after the einstein oil spraydown, the ladybugs have been flyin' around for the past couple days...the plants look happy...how can I tell if I'm winning the battle? I mean, will the leaves clear up like a teenager from one of those pimple-cream commercials? They're in their 2nd week of flower so I don't want to spray anything again but I want to beat these f'ers...thanks for your help guys and gals...

somne plants dont like neam oil

some plants dont like pesticides.

I had a BUNCH of spider mites, and couldnt shake them... even with neam oil and azamax

i went to lowes and bought some specracide and some hotshot pest strips.

The hot shot pest strips look like an air freshner.

They do not stink, but they say they are not good to breath in for more than 4 hours.

If anyone still has a problem with spider mites... listen very closely, you will ask for my mailing address to send me large sums of money or gifts because you will love me after this, its so simple...

buy 3 hot shot pest strips. Put them in your room.

Use any other spray in half strength, so as not to even risk phasing or harming your plants.

Use the half strength stuff of your choice 3 times, 3 days appart from eachtoher, so 9 days total.

No need to dip plnats, just give them a good spray.

keep the pest stips in there forever.

And any spider mites that you can still see, rub them away, and youll notice they are already dead after starting this treatment, the live ones actually make your fingers redish when you smear them.

The dead ones... dont smear. They are hard, and stay a black speck.

ALL bugs are killed by these pest strips.

Ants, roaches, flies, spiders, EVERYTHING

They say on the package they are good for 4 months.

Id say after 2 months, just buy a couple more to be safe.

I swear... theres not an easier way, and it kills them ALL.

THere is no odor.

If you live in your room more than 4 hours, i guess use at your own risk.

This was in a 10x10x10 room.

Thanks

Lot's of folks have been hit by the BORG of insects, Spidermites and feel your pain. Surrender IS NOT an option. Fight the lil beaties to the very end. Lots of good tips in this thread and my personal method has worked for me.

Spider mites SUCK! If you have them on one plant chances are they are on all of them. So very small and difficult to see unless you use a loupe or magnifier(at least for me anyways). I had one harvest *almost* get ruined by the critters and then I fought back with technology...and won! I did not want to use any chemicals on my ladies so close to harvest, and ended up using...STEAM!:fire:

Bought a Rowenta steamer from Bed Bath &Way Beyond and it worked like a charm! Best way is to do this somewhat *safely* is to water your plants, wait an hour and then hit the plants EVERYWHERE with the steam. You cannot concentrate the steam in any one area for too long or you'll cook the poor plant!:leaf: The neat thing about this is the temperature. The mites simply crumble and die as soon as the hot steam hits them! Again you HAVE to be careful or you'll cause more harm than good, but if you pay attention to what your doing, you can do this! After you have hit all areas thoroughly, let your ladies rest for 1-2 days then hit em again. The live mites die easily but the eggs may still hatch (nasty things). If you cannot control the mites after 3 steam treatments, you should abandon ship and chop em down, sorry. Good luck and let us know how you faired in this time of crisis.

Full color back or what? Spots on top and no bugs underneath?...thanks.

I got rid of them almost the same exact way. I used Neem Oil day one, went and bought Doctor doom in the green can and 1 no pest strip (8x8 room) and sprayed my the soil to kill the larvae, every day for 3 days, then used azamax for a soil drench after 3 days had passed.I havent seen anything moving since day 2.

If you EVER get a clone from ANYBODY,dip that skank in neem oil before you put it with the rest of your girls. You will understand why if you ever get spider mites, they are a real pain in the azz to get rid of.

k, I got some predatory mites in the mail today...I was thinking I might try and keep them dormant...(in a cool place)...and get a pest strip rather than capturing all of my ladybugs to be able to apply my rescue mites :) what do you guys think?.........they're visible on less than a quarter of the leaves total...so can I keep the good mites "on ice."

thanks.

Spider Mites will EXPLODE in population if your room is dry and warm. The no pest strip will KILL all of your beneficial insects, so not sure if you want to use that with lady bugs around.(or people) What I DO know is that the Spidermites WILL take over very quickly if you let them...it's almost like a geomeetric progression or virus outbreak. :(

I'm kinda willing to take the loss, most of those lady bugs got their freak on and died any way lol....think I might put a pest strip in...let the next couple of days do what they do? lol hahaha thanks for your help guys...the rescue mites are on hold....ladies may be coming to their demise lol

So I figured I could use the ladybugs in my veg cab and captured most of them from the flower tent today...then added the pred mites...attack! lol I'm starting the 3rd week of flower...I plan to get a pest strip in 3 or 4 wks I think...

don't get just 1 pest strip get like 4 if there more then a few feet away they don't seem to work. i'd say 1 for every 2-3 plants. but they do work...

Personally, If I was going to use the NoPestStrip, I'd do it sooner rather than later. They say not to use those around food, so I'd be wary of using it too late in flower. I guess I'd either do the NPS now, or just put my faith in the beneficial bugs, and not do the NPS at all.

Thanks guys...this is my 1st grow so I dono what route I should take...I think I might put my faith in the beneficial bugs since it says they take about 4 weeks to finish up their work...plus I spent 30 bucks on them so I might as well...

Anybody grown with a pest strip throughout flower??? I don't wanna mess anything up...I was going to add 2 DIY 2 liter Co2 things...will that mess with the bugs at all???? Thanks for everything everybody.

I don't think a NPS in flower will mess anything up, but I'd wonder about any residue that it might leave on your buds. You might not taste, but I don't think it would be healthy. I don't know for sure that it does leave any residue though.
Also, if you put your faith in the good bugs, and they don't pan out, there is more that you could do. After the good guys have died off, or your sure they're just not going to cut it, you could at least do a little spot spraying of mites with isopropyl alcohol and water (50/50 in a spray bottle). I don't think you'd want to spray right on your buds, but you could kill mite populations on surrounding leaves to help keep the problem contained somewhat.

I think in high amounts the CO2 will kill insects, but I don't know if the DIY ones will get that high. Not sure though... maybe someone else can chime in.
