sry it took so long to get back to you.with my two 600 watters i got about two and a half ounces of dried bud per plant.i was hoping for about two per plant so i was reaaly happy with the results plus i was growing blueberry which is not a very big yielder.

Ive heard that about the blueberry, (small yielder) but ive also heard alot of people say its the best. Id love to get some DJ shorts if i can ever find it. anyway my tent is a little smaller than yours, Its 6.5wx8Lx6.5H with 2000w HPS and a little 126 LED in the corner

thanks man, i'm really new at this and have never done dirt before. gives me peace of mind that you veg that long in 3gals. i was using 1/2 strength botonicare hydro nutes and have whitney farms dry foods in a black gold organic/perlite mix. i'm gonna up the nutes after hearing your advice. i wanted to make sure to not over fertilize like all us newbies do. those pics are of 17 days in 12/12. can you ballpark the yeild per plant? appreciate it bro.
Although pictures can be deceiving, I'm guessing a pound per plant.
For those pictures not taken of the "greener" plants...perhaps you should slow down on the nitrogen and up the potassium and phosphate.
At this stage in flowering, I would suggest more nutes. :peace:

Hi, Im a very new gardener with 3 bubblegums in 5gal pots, They are getting kinda pale green and the leaves are droopy. Ive been feeding every other watering with 1/2 dose botanicare nutes. Ive got some smaller ones that look great so im wondering if im rootbound. Ive topped/fimmed and supercroped these girls so do i need to get into 10gals? Im 17 days into 12/12 so im hoping i just need to feed more. advice is very welcome. thanks!

5 gallon pots and only 12 days into flower? Oh yeah.....you'll get a lb. per plant--if not, damn close. :hump:

hell yeah! If i got half that id be stoked!! My friend looked at them a week before i flipped to flower and he said 6 to 10 oz a plant, I wasnt sure if he was exagerating a little but hes a bad ass grower in CA. Im really gettin fired up about these girls. tyand rep for feeding advice.

Not really a small yielder, only if you try to fast veg them.

If you select a good breeder from seedlings for a mother, and veg the clones for 4-5 weeks they will yield you well.

I seeded this one 9 years ago, and have been cloning it ever since....clone of a clone of a clone...many generations over.

This is a pic of one half of the plant. Its just started week 4 of flowering, growing in a 95 litre (24 gallon) pot. Ive got 3 of these in 95 litre pots and they take up the entire grow room.

You are right about the flavor though, its right up there with the best.

sancho,

First thing I noticed was that you seem to have the holes in the bottom of the pot taped over. Plus I didn't see where you had them sitting in any kind of tray to catch the run off from when you water them. So I'd have to wonder if maybe not enough oxygen is getting to your roots and you're starting to develope an anaerobic condition down in the soil at the bottom of the pot. I'd suspect maybe you might have the beginnings of a little root rot rather than a root "bound" condition.

I always drill plenty of extra holes in the bottoms of the pots I use. Plus I keep the pots set up on some 1/2" tall rings I've cut off PVC pipe. This keeps the pot from sitting in any run off from watering and allows some air to circulate under the pot.

Over all though those plants look pretty healthy so far. If any thing since they appear to have been growing so strong and hard they might be a little nitrogen starved. I know some of these "Bloom" nutes don't have much nitrogen in them (if any). I'd check the NPK ratio of what you're using to see how much nitrogen is in it and maybe consider supplementing it with something else if it's low or the plants appear to be yellowing out down low.

As far as upcanning to a 10 gallon pot at this point I'd have to say that because of there size that looks like it would be quite the major chore that would run you the risk of doing more damage to the plant from handling it than any possible benefit you might get from having them in a bigger pot.

This far into bloom I'd guess your root system has pretty much gotten as developed as it's going to get. The plant is concentrating on building buds and not roots at this point. So even if you put them in bigger pots the roots won't grow out much into the new soil and get to the nutrients in it. I think you'll be fine in the size pots your in if you just feed them correctly.

Any how, that's my 2 cents worth.

thanks jack, thats screen on those pots so it does not make such a mess when i water, I was thinking about pulling it off for better airflow, these pots sit on blocks in there own spill tubs and the run off gets removed via shop vac. god i hope its not root rot! Ive been underwatering and very light handed on the botanicare nute line im using, My guess is your right about growing strong and needing nitrigen, iIm slowly increasing the food. Ive just switched to bloom food,I left em on veg nutes for the first 2 weeks of flowering.

How long do you veg for in those size pots and what type of yield do you usually get. Never grown in that large of pot, 10 gal is the biggest but I've been thinking of going with 30 gal smart pots.

Thanks for any info you might be willing to share...

show us a full body shot of one of those big ladies!! How many per light and what kind of yield on a plant that size? I dont care if its less GPW than SOG big ladies are sexy!!

i was going by what i saw in the pics..if your setup is perfect than you should get a pound i guess.but if not your not getting a pound...my plants looked just like yours(same size)and my set up is two 600 watt hps on movers in a 8x8x10 grow tent with temps at 80-85 and r/h at 60-70%whi ch is pretty good and no poun d...i just didnt want you to be dissapointed when you dont get that much.

That is pretty sad that you dont even get a pound off of 2-600w, because my and my older bro on our first grow had 2-600w HPS/MH interchangable ballast, FoxFarms soil, and nutrients. We only grew three strains, 8-cheese, 10-blueberry, and 4-bigbud, all with a 8-week veg. We lost 1 of the big buds to mold but the others were perfect and are total yeild was just over 2 lbs. Also I almost forgot we had 2 co2 tanks with regulators and set on timers. So if you cant get over 1 lbs with 2- 600w HPS that is completely your fault. I wish you luck and hopfully soon a 2 lbs harvest.

sancho,

I didn't mean to panic you about the root rot thing. Since that's screen on there and you've had them up on blocks and say you've been "under waterng" you probably don't have any root rot going.

And speaking of watering.... I use to go with that let them dry out good between waterings and water them sparsely idea myself but I got over it. Any more I try and make sure they stay good and moist all the time. As long as the pot has good drainage and is blocked up to let air under it I think it would be really hard to over water them.

Also I think that if you're stingey with the water you run the risk of creating dry pockets of soil down in the pot that will hurt the roots in those areas.

Even if my moisture meter tells me the soil is still moist, if the pot feels light to me when I pick it up I give them a good soaking. For instance, if I use 5 gallons of water to water several plants I'll get 1 to 2 gallons of run off. When ever I water I like to make sure it runs out of the bottom of the pot good. That way I know I'm not leaving any dry pockets down in there.

And judging from the size of your plants I'll bet they have some pretty strong watering demands. If I were you I think maybe I'd start watering them a little heavier.

I've never used any Botanicare products so I can't comment on them but I once used some Earth Juice Bloom formula (that had zero nitrogen in it) during flowering. And I'll never make that mistake again because that crop yellowed up and was a fairly poor producer yield wise.

Jack out.

Jack I think youve done this before, man i think i did create dry pockets in these 3 BGs by letting them dry to much, I cant seem to get the pot as heavy as my others. I used a 50/50 split of perlite/blackgold organic which has perlite in it as well, I water from the top and let so much run off that i bottom feed as well then i make sure there blocked up and never sitting in water. is there any remedy other than increasing my water/feed scedule?
