If you cross the north Korean border illegally you get 12 years hard labor.

If you cross the Chinese border illegally you may never be heard from again.

If you cross the Venezuelan border illegally you will be branded a spy and your fate will be sealed…

if you cross the Cuban border illegally you will be thrown into political prison to rot.

If you cross the u.s. Border illegally you get
* a job,
* a drivers license,
* social security card,
* welfare,
* food stamps,
* credit cards,
* subsidized rent or a loan to buy a house,
* free education,
* free health care,
* a lobbyist in Washington
* billions of dollars worth of public documents printed in your language
* the right to carry your country's flag while you protest that you don't get enough respect.

Doesn't seem like you have a very firm grasp on reality, really. Life is pretty shitty when you don't have documents and you have to be determined and hard-working to make it. You're probably living in fear of ICE and law enforcement in general, you're probably using a fake or stolen SSN, so you're paying all your payroll taxes but will not be getting any social security or medicare.

Instead of bitching about how good life is for undocumented immigrants, you might want to ask yourself why they aren't here legally. If you do even the most cursory research, you will realize that our immigration laws are totally fucked up and that we aren't letting in enough people LEGALLY to fulfill the needs of our economy. We want to be letting in scientists, engineers, doctors etc. (which we aren't), but we also need people to fill seasonal agricultural jobs and the like. Instead, we just let in anyone who has the survival skills or the money to get past border patrol, but exclude the people we actually need.

So, yeah...let's do something to seal off the border and deport 'illegals', but you can't do that unless you first fix legal immigration. Remember, bush wanted to do this and actually had a decent plan, but you guys were all like "no amnesty", so nothing happened.

We have 12.5 million people(officially) unemployed in the USA, we don't need to import 1 single soul to take a job from a citizen. The reason the immigration laws don't allow for unlimited legal status immigrants is because we are full and do not need anymore.

Let me get this straight.

We have people flooding in from other countries becuase our own citizens choose welfare over work, leaving a wide open job market for illegals.

Why not replace welfare with workfair and fill those jobs with our own citizens. Wouldn't this kill two birds with one stone?

Not getting any social security and medicare ? Sounds like the rest of us soon.
Everyone else who breaks the law gets to live like shit one way or another ( regardless of whether its just or not ) why should they be any different ?

We don't allow people to break into banks and steal money because they want a "better life".
Don't break into my country and just take what you want ...

We don't need people to fill any jobs with current unemployment, and that even in good economic times, this is a false belief. If we can't fill all of our jobs in this country ( particularly professional ), we have much bigger issues than immigration.

If we just gave everyone in Mexico the right to vote in US elections, the liberals wouldn't be so eager to bring them here.

Well, things haven't gotten to the point where the unemployed software engineers are moving out west in the hopes of finding work picking fruit or processing meat. So while you might have double-digit unemployment in michigan or rhode island, in some places it's under 4% percent, making for a very tight job market. I think it's lincoln, nebraska that has 4.7% unemployment or something like that.

And rick, get your facts straight. You can't 'choose welfare over work' in this country...I know it's easier to assume that anyone who is getting any sort of help is lazy, stupid or otherwise unproductive, but for the most part that simply isn't true. And I would rather have my tax money go to unemployment benefits for folks who are out of work rather than more prisons, police, homeless shelters that we would need if we let those people fend for themselves.

Manothegreen, I'm breaking the law for most of the time by cultivating cannabis....do you think I should go to prison? It's illegal after all...

Fargo, North Dakota 2.1%. State of North Dakota 3.7%. Ive been there, its like a flat table with nothing there, and its colder than a witches tittie in a brass bra in January. Its no wonder they have such low unemployment, probably only a few people who would want to live there.

You should not go to prison for owning your own body, your property or your labor. Logically if you believe you own yourself, you must agree others own themselves, their property and their labor right?

If pot were legal, should you be forced to give some to others that refuse to grow their own?

Only someone who lives a sheltered life makes statements like this. have you ever spent time in an inner city like Detroit? have you ever talked to the people that live there or even heard their conversations?

Obviously you have not. In Detroit, there is an entire culture of subsidized living. I see perfectly able bodies men using a Bridge card (food stamps) and driving away in an Escalade with 24" spinner rims every day.

I have seen welfare scams of every kind and mothers having more children just for the increase in benefits.

Every day, I drive through neighborhoods that look like they have been carpet bombed and criminals prowling the streets openly - some carrying thief's tools in broad daylight. I see children walking through streets littered with discarded tires, burned cars and all sorts of debris while having to avoid crack heads and rapists. There are few stores, save for small immigrant ran ones that sell over priced stuff and scam the welfare system. No supermarkets and few fast food restaurants - even McDonnell's does business through bullet proof glass. No chain stores or any place people can buy reasonably priced goods. No Home depots, no Lowe's, no Walmart - nothing.

Just about everyone in Detroit gets a check each month and it is one big spend feast for about 3 days until the money is gone. Only a fool thinks that this does anybody any good.

The only thing Government subsidies do is add to the problem by perpetuating a cycle of poverty.
Sounds similar to my story... except in St. Louis.
I went to school with a pretty "liberal" mindset regarding social issues... then I saw what kind of situation this created... was a real epiphany... changed a lot of my views.

congo... kill someone, rape someone, drive as fast as you want, rob whoever you want, and understand anyone can do anything back to you.

People dont know what actual complete freedom means.

Not saying its a good thing or a bad thing... just saying people who think america is the most free place on earth are poorly mistaken.

America has more laws than any other country.

When you actually think about it for more than 5 seconds and dont get amped up to pound your chest like an ape and say you are the most free and most brave...

Here is reality.

Congo... land of the free, home of the brave

America... Land of the most laws on the planet, home of the pussies who write another law every time they make a mistake and life kicks their ass, and instead of admit they messed up, their precious little egos can only be saved if they assume that no one else is capable of completing the same task correctly without messing up as well... so they write a law that says you cant do that anymore.

Mcdonalds has to write hot on their coffee.

because someone cant drive and make good judgements while driving, there are now little white signs that say dont go faster than this

because someone makes a mistake... pussy americans think writing a law to take away our freedoms is the disney movie magic solution.

Congo, land of the free, home of the brave

America, land of the most laws on the planet, home of the pussies who like to pretend they are brave, as they obey speed limits and get ready to sue if the coffee cup doesnt say hot.

Take your delusional patriotic bs, and put it in a rolling paper, and blow it out your nose after it gets you high that you think your the bravest and free'est

your neither.

Gee, is it possible that freedom needs some further definition? Freedom is coupled with security. Don't describe a lack of security and call it enhanced freedom.

Rob, we've had this discussion a couple of times. My view is that without the things provided by the government with my tax-dollars, I wouldn't be able to own that property or enjoy the fruits of my labor. If pot were legal and I was making money selling it, I wouldn't have a problem paying a tax of say 1$/g on the sale, no....
