Koosh, just where have you been? I know :) Smoking that danky dank you grew.

You know, the Indians always germinated their seeds on the first full moon of the new year. Got any candidates?

i have been lurking all along and watching. interesting thinking going on so i just sit back and watch. when the analytical thinking and debates go on, i just observe because i have nothing to add because i just dont know hehe. but i am along with you every step of the way. i might start a stealth grow very soon.

Yeap, I'm a hill dweller for sure, no bout a doubt it :) Most I've seen was 11 feet of snow in one night. <----read again . But that is not normal, generally, oh, 3~5 feet, sometimes close to 7.

Okay, Completely OT, but it is something to thing about.

Do you think a dog can be trained to the point where he can discriminate? Watch this, the dog just sits there watching TV, and everything is kewl. When the one person's hands get above their shoulder  _ Automatic Go _ when the threat stops, the attack stops. It's called Schutzhund. Got Schutzhund???:hump:

Now that I've had a few gigantic bong hits_oh how I just love gravity bongs :) :) :)

I've come to, as in, arrived at while under the influence of a massive jolt of thc to my older than dirt body - Conclusion.

I have used exclusively 6,500k - good, bad or indiferent, I did it. Manily because I wanted to see what would happen. BECAUSE, conventional thinking is 5,500_which is where the kelvin scale says. We all can read and comprehend, so this is pretty much a 'no brainer'. But wait...didn't I just describe, The Box?

If I had wanted to grow within the box, I would have just done a few big wattage, blah, blah blah, Hydro, SOG, something. Not knocking any of the people who use this type of stuff. It works. Can't argue with that.

But what I wanted to, and continue to do is explore, kinda like myth busters 8)

So, 6,500k, was the number I thought was kinda like what a plant would see in the beginning of it's life. The sun is not high in the sky in the spring. It's low on the horizon and going up fast, but it's still low.

Now, since the plants are showing sex. I'm gonna migrate into the 5,500 range and maybe a bit o' UV for, I dunno, whatever seems reasonable_which will be conveyed to my by the plants, and not some pre-determined time schedule, I arrive at. Make sense?

Now, turn up the speakers and grove on this.

Two soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.] cultivars, Essex and Williams, were grown in the field for 6 consecutive seasons under ambient and supplemental levels of ultravio-Set-B radiation to determine the potential for alterations in yield or seed quality with a reduction in the stratospheric ozone column. The supplemental UV-B fluences simulated a 16 or 25% ozone depletion. The data presented here represent the first field experiment conducted over multiple seasons which assesses the effects of increased UV-B radiation on seed yield. Overall, the cultivar Essex was found to be sensitive to UV-B radiation (yield reductions of 20%) while the cultivar Williams was tolerant. However, the effectiveness of UV-B radiation in altering yield was strongly influenced by the seasonal microclimate, and the 2 cultivars responded differently to these changing factors. Yield was reduced most in Essex during seasons in which water availability was high and was reduced in Williams only when water was severely limiting. The results of these experiments demonstrate the necessity for multiple-year experiments and the need to increase our understanding of the interaction between UV-B radiation and other environmental stresses in order to assess the potential consequences of stratospheric ozone depletion.

Just a bit o' food for thought.

Yes, thanks YGF. Definite food for thought. Unfortunately this information is most likely the best you'll find anywhere on the web.

They say they need continuing tests and I have found this to be repeated often on my own searches for clues. It seems a multitude of knowledge is needed to crack the code, unforunately most scientists only ever study one point of knowledge.

I feel this is something we need to figure out for ourselves.

I think that may well have been the book I read when I first started growing. I remember that he (Ed Rosenthal) wrote it with someone else... the copy I borrowed though was obviously printed off the web somewhere...

That has to be the best ever book on growing cannabis. I'm sure though the one I borrowed was called something else... but I'm sure he wrote it with mel frank. I didn't know much about who these people were back then, so I ignored the title of the book, and looked at it as a grow guide.

Very substantial book though, all information and no pic's.
