war is not just a cost you have, it has repercussions for generations and the benifits or the negatives are many fold,
we see that by not really beating north korea it has killed millions more of its people rather than if we had just nuked the shit out of them during the war deafted the dictator allowed the people to rule themselves. Thier country would rival south koreas and with millions more in population of happy people by now and prpbably be a unified state and economic power house
same thing with saddam we let him slide after he retrited from kuwait
if had just finished the job then with a little more bloodshed millions would not have died, and either would have the hundreds of thousands more that died in the iraq war
but now many lives will flourish in that country in greater numbers and happines because of the iraq war and allowing the people to rule themselves
it will be the strongest economic power in the middle east
near sighted anti war protestors cause more pain and death in the long run and are actually hurting thier cause
they basically work against thier goals
anytime you can get rid of a dictator and allow people to rule themselves in an organized democracy, there will be less human dead and more happyness regardless if there was even a reason to get rid of a dictor

I love how some people who have never served want to lecture others on the evils of war and how we should fuck our vets. See, I don't believe the wars in afghanistan and Iraq are illegal. If I believed that, you're correct, it would be my obligation to speak up. I think the wars weren't only justified but I think they were necessary. Maybe not Iraq as much as Afghanistan but I'm happy to see Saddam gone as I'm sure millions of Iraqis are as well. I really would like you to tell a vet to their face how you think they should be treated. Hell, I'd pay to see that one! I'm definently no legal scholar, BUT, If you consider lying to go to war legal, then Iraq is quite , ahem, "legal", But entirely unnecessary. Afghanistan, Ummm, did we get Osama? Well no, but we sure turned the rest of the country against us. We now have more people in that country hating us then ever before. Legal, I doubt it, but entirely unnecessary as well.
